Holland New DVD Profiler collection upload

Hello,

I've been visiting bluray.com for many years now, and I've always used DVD Profiler to catalog my collection. I would really like to import it into this site so I can keep track of any upgrades I might need - that's a really cool feature. I have a fairly large collection and at my first try I made the mistake of uploading a file larger than 8mb. I then tried uploading smaller files that were filtered to blu and dvd. Sadly to no avail, all I keep seeing are the one bluray and the one DVD I added manually to their separate categories.

I tried searching this particular subforum, but the last thread on DVD Profiler uploads was about two years ago. Maybe the recent server maintenance made some changes? Maybe there's an account cache to be cleared of the way too large file I tried uploading in the first instance? Any help is much appreciated

I did not realize that you could import your movie collection to blu-ray.com?

I tried casually last week to export and upload my dvdprofiler catalog but it was too large. I have about 3000 titles separated among DVD, HD DVD, bluray and 4k. Before I as attempt it again, could you provide a brief go-by on how you successfully separated, saved and uploaded your collection?

No worries if you can't. I think you provided me a general road map.

Thanks,
Jason

Thanks,

Hi Jason,

I filtered my collection in DVD Profiler to owned/format, and then exported to separate single file XML. If your XMLs still exceed 16MB, you may want to go one further and flag half of the titles. That might work to keep your XML under 16MB so you can upload in parts - I haven't tried that though so I don't know if the second upload overwrites the first one.

Make sure you upload your bluray file(s) in the bluray section, DVD in the DVD section and so on.

If still not working, try again in a couple of weeks, that worked for me

Good luck, it's a really cool feature of this site and worth the extra effort.

Hi Pazuzu,

Hmm, didn't work for me. On DVD Profiler, I went to the bottom left where there are 3 tabs: Collection List, Filters, Set Tags. I clicked on Filters and the following items were checked: DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, HD DVD. I unchecked all, except for the one I planned to export. In other words, I checked 'DVD', then went to the top left and dropped down to Export Profile Database, and exported as a single file "CollectionDVD.xml", and chose Filtered Profiles on the next tab, and clicked export. CollectionDVD.xml was a 3232kb file size I repeated by checking Blu-ray (saved as "CollectionBluRay.xml-- 9898kb size). Checking HDDVD (saved as CollectionHDDVD.xml-- 828kb size). And checking 4K Ultra HD (saved as "CollectionUHD.xml-- 212kb size).

From blu-ray.com, under my profile, I went to collection, import, then import from DVD Profiler. I uploaded each of the 4 files and it said no upc's were found. When I uploaded the last file "CollectionUHD.xml", which was my DVD Profiler export of my 4K UHD titles, only 4 titles transferred over, though I have 280 UHD titles.....

Oh well, I don't have time to play with it further cause I fly out of state in a couple days. I probably won't have time to mess with it until August. So I may hit you up in another month.

Thanks for your help!
Jason

Well, it looks like 1/2 my DVD collection uploaded. Not sure why it partially worked for DVD's, and not all of them. And why not the other formats? Weird.

Yeah that seems to happen, it happened with both my BD and my DVD collection. I searched these forums, but couldn't find a solution, other than 'you'll just have to add the rest manually'. Which I did, but then I happen to enjoy these 'check, find and add' processes as they take you through your whole collection and give you a good idea of what to keep and what to get rid of, haha.

Did you upload the blurays under the bluray tab under 'collection'?

I did. Blu-ray under blu-ray and DVD under DVD. And hell will freeze over before I scan the upc's manually again for blu-ray.com. My DVD Profiler file got corrupted once and I spent all day reentering over 2500 titles....

Default Unable to import from DVD profiler

When I try the import from DVD profiler link from My Collection on blu-ray.com it takes me to "https://www.blu-ray.com/community/collection.php?action=importfromdvdprofiler&catego ryid=7" and then there is a blank page with the message "No such user."

I'm guessing something is wrong on the server side.
