Default Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius 4K UHD (2001)

I mean it's not even on Blu-Ray nor am I even attached to the movie but it would be nice if we had all the 2001 Best Animated Feature nominees in 4K, now that Monsters Inc and Shrek have been released. Y'know, to celebrate 20 years of that category.

20 years of what? Animation category has been around longer then 20 years. Call or email the company that owns the rights to Jimmy Neutron.

Paramount owns the rights so it's possible that we will get the movie on both Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray.

I don’t see it getting a 4K release.

There have been some positive responses to Shrek 4K but I think the CG animation will be less complex on this one and I don’t know how well it would upscale.

Plus it’s not really a current property and it doesn’t have as much crossover appeal outside of children/families. If it’s in syndication I bet most would watch it on Nickelodeon or if it’s streaming on Paramount+. Good Burger proves there’s demand for MOD Nickelodeon titles so I suppose a BD could be possible.

I really liked this movie and the TV show as a kid, but I saw some pictures online recently and it looks truly awful. “Less complex” than Shrek 1 is a really spot-on euphemism! Releasing it on Blu Ray would make more sense than 4K.

I was always into Spongebob. There's just something about a talking sponge that looks nothing like an actual sponge that makes me laugh.

I wouldn't put Jimmy Neutron in the same category as Pixar and DreamWorks... but I did like the movie and enjoyed the show enough when I was younger.

I'd be fine with it just being on BD, because I don't see a 4K happening. With Good Burger coming out and having the Nickelodeon banner on it, it'd be nice if we got more Nick movies under the banner.

The DVD not a pure digital transfer and was taken from a filmout.
I really hope that the original master animation files are still preserved and the film can be re-rendered in native 4K.
This film is also the very first animated film made entirely with open source software.
I also think the movie was rendered in a sub-1080p resolution so if the Blu-ray is still an ancient filmout scan, the best way to view the film for me would still be the fullscreen DVD since it is in the full open matte presentation, which is like IMAX on a CRT.

I like the film but it didn't deserve the Oscar nomination.
If anything, Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within deserved it much more, they are both heavily underrated cult classics that I love.
Unfortunately, I think the Oscars didn't nominate them because they bombed at the box office while Jimmy Neutron did pretty well.
I might even say that I loved Atlantis and The Spirits Within more than Shrek, and I still love Shrek.
Waking Life is also really great but it had no chance of getting nominated because it was an R-rated animated film that only had a limited arthouse release.

The category in its earlier years were certainly odd. Not only did the first two years not award it to a Disney movie*. They were just nominating whatever their kids watched. I mean, Eight Crazy Nights was almost nominated for the 2002 awards. Eight Crazy Nights!

*Spirited Away was distributed in the US by Miramax, which was a Disney subsidiary back then but isn't anymore and Studio Ghibli have switched US distributors

Spirited Away was actually distributed as a Disney film and not a Miramax film.
Princess Mononoke was the only Ghibli film distributed under Miramax.
Kiki's Delivery Service was distributed as a Touchstone Pictures film (weird, since it was rated G) but it would be rebranded as a Disney film.

Well, Jimmy Neutron is now available to purchase digitally in 4K UHD, if that's close enough.
