Just purchased the TSR700 from Costco to cut down on cables used with my previous Pio AVR that would not pass 4K through to TV. All eq (Sony 4K BDP, DirecTV, PS4, Xbox One) going into AVR and one HDMI out to TV (LG OLED) through ARC. Nothing but constant issues and need some help to figure out what I'm missing.
Tons of audio and video issues from the start. Lots of cable swapping, unplugging/replugging, and power cycling. It's better now, but still having issues at times when switching from inputs within AVR. Also, lots of issues when trying to use passthrough and keep speakers off (only TV internal speakers on). I can get this to work, but various things trigger it to come back on, or even activate the BDP. I've gone into the trigger setting of the AVR setup menu and tried different settings to stop this. Right now, I have it to Manual and Low. Not sure if this is right since these setting are not explained at all. Also, when watching Netflix or Disney+ from TV to AVR, 4K is sometimes not recognized, and Dolby Atmos never shows on the display front of the AVR for Atmos programs. It comes up as DD or DD+ only. I only have a 5.3 (3 subs) setup, but Atmos should still read on the display front I would think. Also, watching a DTS HD MA bluray disc, it shows up as DTS X MA on the front display. Is this right? I noticed having to increase the volume be about 10dbs just to be able to hear it. Why would it be so much quieter than DD? |

Yamaha is issuing a hardware / board upgrade this fall for this model, free of charge to those who have purchased this AVR https://usa.yamaha.com/news_events/2...i-caution.html
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/techn...lem/ar-AAKmoMf I commend Yamaha by taking the initiative to get this right, but this is of course, buffered enthusiasm providing their follow through is legit. This will cover this particular model as well as other Yamaha models. Again, Yamaha jumped the gun on advertising these features without validating their claims of availability at a later date as a software update (wrong). Also, if you want to dig deeper with your settings on this model, there is a way to access those features by connecting to the AVR through its IP address and tweaking the settings more concisely and in depth with your computer. YouTube has several videos on how to do this and what setting you should be looking at for various situations. This method actually is more methodical and simple (ironically) without having to switch between multiple menus. Hopefully this will address some if not all of your issues.
