Default Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown (PS4 Exclusive)

I don't know how many Virtua Fighter fans are still out there, but I grew up on this series and I still love it! It's still my all time favorite fighting game and I'm looking forward to playing this! It's interesting that Sony secured this as an exclusive.

I still remember walking into the arcade and seeing Virtua Fighter for the first time. i was excited to see a polygon fighter and the camera rotating around them, being an artist who was studying computer animation in school at that time.

The game was interesting when I plunked in two quarters to play it, with a nice selection of varied characters, a good set of fighting moves and a variety of scenery to see, but the controls felt a bit floaty, especially when the character jumped and floated in the air a little longer than I was hoping for. Once I started to win a couple matches it became a bit more fun once I got the timing down.

Each time a new arcade version was released in arcades, I'd give it a few tries. A favorite character is the drunken master old man. I even bought the Genesis version which felt like Virtual Fighter but in 2D.

This remake has good visuals for fans of the series.

My main complaint about most fighting games like Dead or Alive, Virtua Fighter, Tekken and Mortal Kombat is that unlike Street Fighter 2, King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown and other fighters, too often there is a character laying flat on the ground with the other character standing or still attacking. In other words, too many falls, not enough fighting or even stagger back moves like in a real fight where you're supposed to stay on your feet most of the time. If you fall, you become more vulnerable to cheap hits. Combos are fine but keep the victim player still on their feet, just being pushed back as long as their stamina can handle it.

Just imagine instead of falling every time you get a powerful hit against you, you can stagger backwards and continue to try to block incoming attacks and maybe regain your footing and return with your own attacks to keep the fight going?

Thankfully the block button or pressing back helps. That's what's good about Virtua Fighter though, no dumb block button to press like in MK10 and 11, you just push back on the control stick.

I remember seeing the Original Arcade Cabinet for the 1st game. I don’t think I played it but it was the first wow looking 3D Fighter game.

$10 extra but you can change your characters appearance and also go into polygon original mode. While I wish that was included in the full game, hopefully the main game isn't more than 49.99 retail new.

Should an older game remake of a game be sold at 59.99 or more?

Last console this game was on was PS3 I believe.

It's 29.99. Also, when will the new Plus games be available? I was looking to download this this morning.

The thing is, most players are pretty cowardly when playing Online in Fighting games of either knocking the opponent down, spamming attacks that are not meant to be spammed that basically give the opponent no way of attacking, doing attacks that stun your character constantly, blocking almost every move you make, constantly countering, overkilling and basically being total Tryhards.

To me it just means that people don’t know how to properly play the game. Like in Soul Calibur usually the using weapons would be cool while fighting, but many people when playing Online on it just ruin it by using those weapons to spam attacks or blocking every 2 seconds and Soul Calibur’s type of gameplay was not meant for spamming.

I have to say this was a surprise, it's been a long time since I played VF and it's certainly a welcome return. I wondered when it'd retyrn.

There is a 2.0 update on the way. I don't suppose it is necessary, but I wonder if there will be a PS5 version?

Good question and I can't really give you a good answer. The store page makes no mention of DLC that I could see.

Hopefully at least the Legendary Pack DLC is included since it is on the cover of the left PS4 game case.

I sent them an email and this was the response -
At this time we have no confirmation regarding any included DLC. Should anything change, you will find that information on the product page.

Sure! Here's the revised version with "Heyapks" at the end of the sentence:

Thanks for the update! If you're exploring safe ways to access apps not available in your region, there are some helpful platforms out there — one I’ve found reliable is :
