Could be a 4K candidate, but so could The Right Stuff, and no word yet on either, right? I missed out on the latter digibook for a decent price, so I didn't want to miss this one.
This would at least be a great candidate for a Warner Archive if they were to do a 4k scan (or at least a re-pressing of the digibook). Gad I kept onto mine

WB missed opportunity to release 40th Anniversary 4K this year. Watched the standard bluray couple times this year, and the film grain would definitely benefit from 4K resolution, it's way too coarse because the downscale to 1080p. Also, for the 4K release, I would fix these things from it:

- Improve the blood effect in the capture-scene, if the original master without the effect is still available.
- Fix some brightness issues and couple scenes with vertical lines on the film.
- Fix one cut in the scene with Pran sucking cattle blood, when he's leaving the cattle shed, there's one shot inbetween that has wrong shot colour (light in the scene has blue hue otherwise, but that one short cut moment of him leaving the shed, has warm colourspace, and sticks out from the scene). Easy to fix by altering the lightning hue.

Personal preference, but I would add these things to the movie too:

- Date texts to some scenes, to give better sense that how much time has passed between the events.
- Optional subtitles that would translate Cambodian and some French dialogue, to open up more what is going on.
