Default Marantz 4002 Issue

My subwoofer has stopped working all of a sudden.I tried to do the speaker setup and got no test tone from the sub.I changed cables and still no sub. This reciever seems to be difficult to setup and my problem is more than likely a reciever setting issue.Anyone familiar with this unit and what my problem could be??

did you mess with any of the settings, or unplug it from the wall for a while?

I messed with all the settings to no avail and I will unplug awhile and see if that gets the sub working.

well, I meant did you mess with any settings and perhaps turned the sub off by accident? or unplug from the wall for a little while and possibly reset he receiver back to factory settings which may have also turned off sub?

...long shot, but have to ask the easy questions first.

so the sub was working and now it does not?

is it plugged into the proper connection?

in receiver settings, subwoofer should be set to "yes" (im sure you now this)

did you hit one of the listening modes by accident?

perhaps you are stuck in a listening mode that is not using the sub?

...does changing to other modes do anything for you?

hi - need a little more info on what it is you are doing
what is your source - dvd player, blu ray etc
how are you connected - hdmi, component etc
what is the receiver set at - stereo, 5.1, dts etc

just a little info when you run MRAC on the 4002 it automatically sets the sub to -10 or -11 - I forget which and I'm at work

if you are running source direct (7.1 input in) there is no lfe signal sent

This is the most likely culprit - from the manual

No output to Sub Woofer Out. Sub-woofer = NONE has been selected in
SETUP mode.
Select Sub-woofer = YES.

just a couple of ideas - I do have access to a pdf manual here so will try to help if I can

I ran the manual speaker setup and there was no test tone from the sub.
Sub is selected in setup and I have tried all the listening modes.
I am running in 5.1 mode(2mains,center,2surrounds,sub).
I really dont know about source direct 7.1.

you do have the sub connected to the purple "SW Pre-Out" connection correct?

...perhaps the connection has gone bad?

what sub do you have?
