United Kingdom Nomadland - Chloe Zhao, Frances McDormand - 28th June 2021

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment/20th Century Studios/Searchlight Pictures will release the Oscar winner Nomadland on Blu-ray on 28th June. Definitely a shame there's no 4K release (Jojo Rabbit got one), as the visuals warrant it. For those who missed it in the cinema or on Disney+ Star (although, please, if you have a cinema still showing it, go and see it that way if you can), this is a good option to watch it. Also note this is the first time the Searchlight Pictures logo has appeared on the spine, rather than solely "20th Century Studios". It's quite an elegiac film, dealing with the loss of a way of life, uncertain times in the world and mortality.

Searchlight have a handful of other films coming out this year - Summer of Soul, The Night House, The French Dispatch - so hopefully they all make it to Blu. There's a handful of other titles on the horizon like Nightmare Alley, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, Antlers, Poor Things, Next Goal Wins, and Wendy is getting a belated UK release through Elysian on 13th August, but I doubt they will have as big an output as they did prior to the Disney acquisition.

The extras replicated from the US release are:

The Forgotten America
Telluride Premiere Q&A
Deleted Scenes

They are a bit late to the party with Nomadland, I recently paid $us 20 with VAT and delivery. The main delay is Amazon-USA's lazy behind to get the order despatched yet. I pay the most expensive delivery option offered. I'd be interested to compare the extras

Tbf, it only hit UK cinemas a month ago, three weeks after Star, and Promising Young Woman isn’t out until August. So only a month or two’s difference really.

While I'd like a 4K, I always appreciate a physical release

I completely agree, I would rather watch a 1080p disc than a 4K stream, though there was a whole thread about it.

Glad it’s got a date, was a tad worried Disney weren’t going to bother with one over here.
