Default Shudder's "Slasher" (Season 5)

Kind of surprising there's no thread for this. It's a must for horror fans. The first three seasons are on Netflix and the 4th is coming to Shudder in August.

Only watched the 3rd? Not the other two?

Anyways, we liked it a lot and it's getting a 4th season... So there.

Yeah I watched the trailers for all 3 and decided to give that one a shot first.

I'm glad you enjoyed it....it's not for me

Season two is easily the best of the three. The first is a bit too clunky, especially in the back half of the season. The third had terrific gore, but terrible writing and characters.

If you like these, don't miss Harper's Island.

Thanks, I'll look for it. And yes S2 was our favorite. We watched 2, 1, then 3.

Never heard of this before but sounds like something I'd be interested in checking out. I don't have Netflix, though, but do have Shudder. I suppose those first three seasons will be staying on Netflix for some time.

I'm a big horror guy and really wanted to like this. I think I got two episodes into the first season and got turned off by the 90s/2000s dtv production quality.

I watched season one and didn't like it. Cool that it's gotten more seasons for those that have been watching

Season 1 was made for the channel Chiller so they were limited in what amount of gore or anything could be shown. Chiller was cool but was commercials and movies were cut so really season 2 and 3 would be more in line with the Slasher name. Chiller also had the movie Fender Bender which was cool and even better on blu-ray. Glad Shudder picked it up and yes Season 2 was the best of the 3.

Season 1 was interesting (mostly because of Katie McGrath). Season 2 was weird as hell but I ended up really enjoying it - over the top and the "catch" was rather clever. Season 3 was dumpster trash and I couldn't watch it all the way through - though I think I did skip to the end out of curiosity, yet I don't remember any of it.

That's all "IMHO" of course. I will definitely give Season 4 a try.

Got around to seeing Season 4 this weekend. Came across it almost by accident, didn't realize it had actually come out.

It wasn't bad. Certainly a huge step back up from that absolutely abysmal Season 3. It's basically Knives Out mixed with Ready or Not, with a few other rip-offs thrown in for good measure
[Show spoiler]Orphan, anyone?

That said...I wouldn't run around telling everyone they should go out and see it. If you've seen the first two seasons, you know the quality level to expect. The slightest semblance of logic or believably is absolutely gone by Episode 5 (though arguing it ever really makes much sense is tenuous at best).

They definitely upped the gore here - it doesn't come that often, but when it does it is pretty unrestrained. Most of it is practical, too, which is always a bonus (though there were some brief dodgy CGI blood moments, they are few and far between).

Given this kind of came out and didn't make any sort of ripple (it doesn't even have a RT score, too few reviews), I'm kind of doubting there will be a Season 5 at this point - though if they do, I would check it out, like I did this one. There definitely is potential in the 8-episode limited series slasher genre.

It does pretty well for SHUDDER. I'm pretty sure S5 will be coming. It has survived so many different networks/streaming services already lol

Finished season 4 a few days ago. It was ok but I liked seasons 1 and 2 the best.
