Default Judge Dredd (1995) vs. Spawn (1997)

Which of these critically-panned 90's comic book movies was better?

Both are terrible movies that badly water down their source material, but Stallone's Judge Dredd at least has some "so bad it's good" moments, so that one, I guess.

Spawn. It's a pretty representation of the comic and a fun little goofy movie. I love how in love it is with being a comic book movie that fully embraces what it is.

Judge Dredd is a terrible adaptation with only a few moments of enjoyable camp.

Judge Dredd I actually like the film. Only seen Spawn once and that was enough.

“Campy” is not a word that should be associated with either. I shouldn’t be seeing Clown farting green gas and making cringetastic Looney Tunes eye-popping gags in a movie about a freaking hell spawn waging a war with Heaven/Hell’s armies and Sly’s Dredd caused all kinds of production issues in deciding on a tone.

At least Judge Dredd’s was occasionally funny in a dumb way (“I AM... THE LAW!”), Spawn’s was nothing but cringe. The HBO series and Karl Urban film is how they should’ve been handled from the beginning.
