Very excited for this! Surprised it’s so much higher at Synapse’s store vs Diabolik: $80 vs $50

Already picked up the Arrow, but interested in seeing how these will stack up against each other. Synapse's Suspiria UHD is one of the best in my collection.

Quote:
Lamberto Bava’s Italian Horror Classics DEMONS and DEMONS 2 make their North American UHD Debuts Just in time for Halloween from Synapse Films!

They will make cemeteries their cathedrals and the cities will be your tombs… in 4K UHD and remastered Blu-ray!

“Perhaps no films better capture the essence of '80s Italian horror” - Nathaniel Thompson, Mondo-Digital.com

Regarded by horror fans the world over as two of the greatest Italian horror films ever made, Lamberto Bava’s Demons films are not only major cinematic nightmare fuel, but also hugely entertaining splatterfests of the highest order. Synapse’s 2013 Blu-rays remain two of their most popular releases, and now they’re bringing these favorites to 4K UHD and remastered Blu-ray in brand-new spectacular 4K restorations! These horrific splatter classics produced by Dario Argento (Suspiria) have never looked or sounded better and are packed with hours of special features, making this the ultimate home video release of these horror favorites!

In Demons, a masked man offers tickets to a horror movie sneak preview at the mysterious Metropol cinema. When a patron is scratched by a prop displayed in the theatre lobby, she transforms into a flesh-ripping demon! One by one, the audience members mutate into horrible creatures hell-bent on destroying the world! Can anyone escape this gory orgy of terror? In 1986’s ambitious sequel Demons 2, the apocalyptic terror continues! A televised horror film spells doom for the residents of a luxury high-rise apartment, as demons are unleashed through the TV screen at a young girl’s birthday party. As more and more residents are infected and transformed into blood-thirsty demons, a young couple fights to survive as they try to escape Hell on Earth.

THIS 6000 PIECE LIMITED EDITION CONTAINS:

I could be wrong, but I recall that Fidelity in Motion (David M) encoded both Suspiria and Arrow's Demons.

So does this release actually add anything worthwhile over the Arrow's? I already have Synapse's steels.

Looks like the Arrow versions of each film have an archival commentary moderated by Loris Curci that is not on the Synapse versions.

Ordered the standard 4K releases of Arrow, but could have saved some $$$ waiting. Synapse should have announced this a month sooner and I would have bit.

Yeah, those are from the Laserdisc and I like having them. There were Laserdisc commentaries from the same period for "Tennabrae" and "Phenomena" (both with Argento and Simonetti) that are not on the Synapse releases as well. All of those commentaries are on the old Anchor Bay DVDs if you want a cheap way to get them.

Note that the specs state that Demons 2 features the true theatrical stereo mix which is absent on Arrow's UHD release. Arrow's release instead featured a 5.1 mix and a mono mix because apparently the stereo mix couldn't be located.

Same. Just ordered new Arrow individual releases. Synapse is too late.

I prefer the arrow packaging and not worried about scan difference so I'll be keeping my preorder.
