Default "Fright Night" Remake

Huh yeah this movie doesn't exactly scream box office draw, and how many more damned vampire movies do we need?!?! Well atleast these vamps are man enough to not sparkle in sunlight..............

Quote:
Dreamworks have announced their intention to resurrect Peter Vincent. Yep, "Fright Night" (1985) is headed for the Xerox machine.

This isn't the first time a "Fright Night" remake has been floated. It's a little-known fact that Sony Screen Gems recently toyed with the idea of remaking Tom Holland's 80s hit too; fortunately for Katzenberg, Clint's crowd passed on the redo (A certain director apparently gave the crowd one heck of a pitch - -very surprised they passed) opting instead to pour their bucks into that, um, Christina Aguilera-dancer flick.

Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig of Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films are producing the latest incarnation along with Michael De Luca. Rosenzweig, who also is setting up remakes of "The Reincarnation of Peter Proud" and "Angel Heart" with De Luca, brought the project to him.

I love "Fright Night"; I think it's ****in' ace. Like Holland's other 80s horror hit, "Child's Play", it hasn't aged either - the scares still works, the jokes still work, and the performances, though a little on the hammy side, are still deliciously fun to watch (especially William Ragsdale and, of course, Stephen Geoffreys). If it must be remade, please let someone put a new spin on it? There's no need otherwise, because this (and, to an extent, "Fright Night Part II") still works well. Get the DVD out for yourself and see.

This will probably suck (no pun intended), but at least it means that we will most assuredly get the original on Blu

This is just another one of those announcements that make you scratch your head. Vampire comedies, do they even make ANY money? I can't even think of one since the mid '90s.............And those had Eddie Murphy and Leslie Nielsen, and even earlier had Jim Carrey. I just don't see any kind of a draw here at all, what next it becomes a Happy Madison production and Sandler and Schnieder are the new gay vamp couple?

Wow...this is getting ridiculous. I enjoyed the original as back then it was funny and in some cases scared the crap out of me and the lady in front of me. I guess 2009 is the year of the announced remakes.

The original Fright Night was the shizzy. But why a remake so many other "better" ideas can be done than the story in that movie, even though I do really enjoy the film I mean I guess Hollywood is really running out of ideas...

Have you seen this movie? It is not a comedy. It has an adorable charm to it similar to how Star Trek TOS has an adorable charm. It is kind of cheesy, but not the bad cheese

I should add: The only reason why it even seems slightly cheesy now, is because it is an 80s film that is being seen through the eyes of one living in the year 2009. The soundtrack and clothes and everything just ooze 80s style and tastes

Who in hades could replace Roddy McDowell, Peter Vincent... vampire killer!!

The original is a classic and I shudder to think how this remake could be mucked up. However, I reserve judgement until I hear some Peter Vincent casting. I'd wizz myself if Christopher Lee is cast .

I'm beginning to think WyldeMan45 that you like posting news about remakes. this is a horrible idea again... It's fine the way it is.

Fright Night is one of my favorite vampire movies, and if this remake gets me a release of the original (and even the sequel) on Blu, so be it.

Why, oh why? The first one was fun but I bet the remake will be overbloated with CGI. Let Fright Night rest in peace.

The world could not handle that much awesome. Not to mention Sarah is gonna be on an HBO show and Whedon and his team are doing the Buffy comic.

Would be nice though.

Fright Night has the same 80's charm that The Lost Boys has only Fright Night came first.

Trust me. It will come to Blu-ray all in good time. They don't have to do a remake for it to happen and the remake wouldn't bring it to BD any sooner either.

I post news about everything movie and tv related, just so happens to be that the only news ever being reported right now is infact remake news, lol. It's not that I seek it out, it's just really the only thing ever there. But like I said I do report all kinds of movie and tv news, i'm sure of my 2,000 threads atleast 5 of them have been actual non-remake news

And to somebody earlier who asked If I had seen this, than yes I've seen it several times over the years, and this just never felt the least bit like a horror movie. It always seemed like a horror comedy and well, nobody could ever take Evil Ed seriously, he's the white Urkel.
