Default Assassin's Creed Infinity

Quote:
Ubisoft is reportedly working on what is known internally as Assassin's Creed Infinity, a huge live-service game project years away from releasing that will evolve over time and feature multiple historical settings. Additionally, the two Assassin's Creed development teams in Montreal and Quebec will reportedly both work on Assassin's Creed Infinity.

The idea seems to be taking a cue from the likes of highly successful live-service games like Fortnite or GTA Online to initially release and then continuously add major updates and dramatically change in-game content. Whatever Assassin's Creed Infinity ends up looking like reportedly will not release until 2024 or later.

I hope that this is an additional project and not a replacement to the regular series. They juuuuust figured out how to do the game right with Valhalla, don't give up on actual story-based games now...

Yeah, hopefully this live online gaming thing will be a side project, but with Avatar being online too, it's not looking too hopeful for offline gamers for Ubisoft's future.

Not surprising that they are making an online only game. So sad what gaming is turning into.

If this is going to be an online only game then I just want New Game plus on Valhalla. It really doesn’t make sense cause they haven’t even finished the story yet.

Still not sure what you’re talking about. Are you wondering why they’re making another AC game?

They're saying that since the main narrative of the AC franchise hasn't been written to completion within the single-player games thus far, it would be frustrating/bad if Ubisoft gave up on telling that story in order to cash in on a game-as-service that would, presumably, not be interested in wrapping up said narrative. Which I agree with.

Who says they’re giving up on the story? They can still have a narrative and continue with it in a live service game. The article in the op is very vague. It even says at the end…..

Whatever Assassin's Creed Infinity ends up looking like reportedly will not release until 2024 or later.

Plus, it’s over 3 1/2 years away from release (most likely will be longer with delays and such) and could end up being scrapped all together. It’s way to early to assume anything let alone ***** about.

I've lost track of the story of AC as it's always going into virtual reality of the past, which doesn't seem to solve a lot in the present situation where these characters are reliving in the past. I don't think there will ever be an ending.

I personally have no interest in a live service Assassin’s Creed game. These types of games are just not my thing. I also have not been real big on the games since Origins. Whereas, Origins was still at least able to give me some enjoyment, I have not cared much for Odyssey or Valhalla. They’ve basically turned them into Skyrim with some of the Assassin bits lightly tossed in there.

I know while I enjoy Odyssey and Valhalla they don’t feel like Assassin Creed games. I want them to get back to the Assassins story line and stop with these random characters that are not Assassins.

I wonder how long it would be if Infinity makes enough money, whether Ubishaft will discontinue single player versions. I enjoyed Origins and would like to try Odyssey soon. However Valhalla got a little slammed.

Yeah, those latest two games, if they didn't have the words Assassin's Creed in the title, most would think it was a new open world game set in ancient times, since the character is no longer wearing the classic AC Hooded cloak outfit on the cover art.

And when the heck is Odyssey ever going to drop to 14.99 again? It's been back at 49.99 for the longest time for the PS4 version. I should've bought the last copy on the shelf at Best Buy last holiday winter sale while I had the chance. $24 at the moment. EDIT: After reading some of the reviews, they said it's a great exploration game so I'll get it, finally. That's about the lowest the price seems to get these days.

EDIT: On topic, apparently AC will offer eventually single player experiences but only in the AC Infinity online only world. Which translates to I'll be avoiding this online only game for sure.

After this news I'm quite done with AC. I liked Origins and Odyssey a lot, but Valhalla was a tedious bore I couldn't bring myself to finish, so after Odyssey the series is fully dead to me.

Shame, I was hoping for an AC1 remake or even remaster on current gen, but that will never happen. =/ Hopefully a spiritual successor to classic AC can come about one day (leaving out the boring modern day crap, though).

Yeah, sad they're going online only with the AC series. It's always been single player primarily (with online modes), yet they have the "brilliant" idea to abandon most of those fans and make it online only. Too bad.

It doesn't make much sense since the assassin is usually a lone character anyway.

I'll be testing out Odyssey next week on my PS5, though it'll be 4K but only 30 fps I read. No PS5 updates for most Ubisoft games except new games like Valhalla, WDLegion, etc.

Some have said Odyssey is the best game in the series in many ways and the best looking game of the series.
