I kept refreshing the best buy page yesterday and it looks like some stores received their steelbooks later in the day as the in store pickup option appeared for me around 5:30-6:00pm when I was finally able to place my order. When I put it the steel in my cart it said they had 2 left at the store. I'm in the Bay area in California. Just FYI. Hopefully this info help someone looking to get one.

They really should make more of these things. All of them being sold out before day one means that if they made more, worst case scenario is they sell out in a week. |

Mine arrived today dented and split in half... Calling in to customer service only offered me $10 to keep it. I tweeted Best Buy and they refunded the full charge and let me keep it

Came back up for shipping, so I snagged it. Don't have the highest hopes, based on what I've read in this thread, but my fingers are crossed for little to no damage- I usually have good luck with shipping steels. Wasn't, and still am not super crazy about the artwork, but it's one of my favorite movies in glorious 4k, so ultimately, I am weak against it. I remain in total lesbians with this movie.

I received two copies. It is very ridiculous to see Best Buy continue having USPS delivering it because the mailbox is very hot due to heat in NorCal California (between 96 to 105). The items feels very warm and I have to cool it down. I can't imagine about the condition on discs if it is still there for few hours.
Anyway, I inspected it carefully. I noticed one have dent (can't tell if it is dent because of cover). Second item is not bad. https://ibb.co/CVLkD7m https://ibb.co/LpPwkt7 |

Got my copy in the mail yesterday and was shocked to see it was in a small little box. I think I've only had one or two other steels shipped in a box, and it was about twice the size of this one. Arrived in pristine condition. Still not entirely sold on the artwork, but I'm happy enough to have it.

Got mine today in a box and it was heavily damaged. Looks like someone grabbed the end and tried to bend it. You suck Best Buy

...which makes the back image all the more irritating. Even the main review on this site calls it a "close-up of Scott's red guitar" and it makes me mad. Scott played a bass, not a 6-string. Even if you can't tell a Gibson from a Rickenbacker, you should be able to tell a 4-string bass from a 6-string guitar. Better would have been Scott's taped-together version late in the movie, but any red bass would have been better than this oddity. Seems lazy, and especially so when you see the care that went into the quality of the composition. The actual 4k presentation and audio is as great as the main review says, and totally worth it. They put the time in for the images being very nice, the composition being solid, and the spot-gloss being gorgeous, but failed to actually use an image from the movie. I still love this steel, but the back is like an itch I can't scratch, and I'm frustrated with these odd artwork choices on newer steels lately. Side-note: I am one who does NOT like the lazy "just paste the wide-release poster on the steelbook and call it a day" options that some movies take. I want the steel to be something new, and typically a minimalist take on something unique (even obscure) about the movie. I loved the most recent 4k King Kong, the controversial Matrix Trilogy Cat, and Shazam. But I thought that Super 8 was boring w/ the same image from the other covers, and the Back to the Future release was a cheap/garbage/blurry printing of a mess of artwork. I say all that to qualify that I like the idea of this release, even with the irritating guitar. Snatch was definitely, um, odd-er... and this one feels so much better than that one in-hand. At least it doesn't look like a lazy photoshop job. Holding them in hand couldn't even help those ones. ![]() |
