Definitely not Suicide Squad 2016 numbers and definitely not even Black Widow numbers. The hype doesn’t generally seem to be anywhere near that of the first film, despite Harley Quinn returning and James Gunn directing.

I’ll go the safe route with $40-50 million since it is still a DC property after all, and a recognizable one at that. It’s the last “big” tent pole release of the summer before Shang-Chi wraps it up in September.

Yeah I’m with everyone else. For as big as that first film was, I think this sequel is gonna be stuck at an impasse between those who don’t know the behind the scenes story here and think this is either too weird a sequel or just don’t want more after the first film, and the purists that don’t believe in this direction for the sequel and will take credit for it’s underperformance.

I hope it proves us wrong though, hopefully with reviews coming out it begins to gather some pre-release hype.

I also believe despite a strong(?) box office on opening weekend, this is one of the big titles on WB's 2021 slate that will likely take a significant hit from HBO Max subscribers opting for streaming/convenience. Especially from general audiences burned from the 2016 film.

I'd say being very generous is 65-70M, it really depends. I feel like I still haven't seen a ton of general marketing (it's hard to differentiate because I follow news sites and social media). I'd say a more accurate figure is 55-60M range and even that to me seems a bit high.

It’ll be interesting to see how it performs over here, coming out a week early and no HBO Max. It at least offers a glimpse into how it would perform normally compared to the original film.

I can't wait to check this crazy movie out.

I'll optimistically say $50-60 million. Sadly the first film is likely to cast a shadow over this despite Gunn directing and possible great word of mouth. I would say this could have legs but who knows considering it's going to be on HBO Max, and none of the Max titles have had legs besides GvK to an extent. Even though Gunn is really pushing for people to see it in theaters, this is bound to suffer more from HBO than most of WB's titles this year.

$40m-$50m; for what its worth, and isn't worth anything IMO, early reaction is good; even if all the reactions sound like scripted sound bites.

"DC’s goriest film to date."

"James Gunn is fully unleashed."

"The cast is out of this world."

"King Shark RULES."

"The Suicide Squad is TOTALLY INSANE and insanely cool."

Depends on the RT score but I'm gonna say high 50s to 60m.

I’m gonna say 60-70m I honestly think it could have been better if the og cast was back and the trailers were as good as the first but I still think it can do 60-70 from star power (unless word of mouth is garbage)

Or the usual "Best DC movie ever" that they say for every new release.

Sadly the hype is nowhere near the first, even if it'll easily be the better movie. What remains to be seen is people who didn't like the first will give this a chance or not, as BoP didn't quite set the box office on fire.

I might have low balled this one. Seems it's trending higher for opening weekend. Pretty nice score on IMDb.

With mask mandates likely to increase ahead of the movie's opening... maybe it'll be lucky to hit $40m+

#TheSuicideSquad is not showing any signs of improvement. Though there's still time but if things don't improve, may as well be looking at $25M opening weekend.
