Default Bad article

There is a very biased article against Blu-ray that I think people should consider commenting on. It may not be worth your time, as I think the average purchaser is becoming better informed on the format. The link is http://news.digitaltrends.com/talk-b...-wait-or-never.

i don't think it is a very biased article at all...

To answer the Blu-ray question in short: I'd wait until this new class of players comes out towards the end of the year. If you don't want to wait, you can still get it in a new TV or set-top box, but I think the best way to get this capability is in a Blu-ray player, because it is more elegant than a set-top box, and you'll likely want to upgrade it long before a new TV wears out.
he doesn't completely "bash" it, he makes certain points and tries to support them (which is better than a lot of anti-blu articles that i've seen where the writer just attacks certain things without listing evidence for doing so). that doesn't mean i agree with all of them, but not everyone has to love bluray (except everyone on here ) in the end, he still recommends bluray to people, and admits to owning 7 players in his own home. not sure how that's "very biased"

When it works, Blu-ray is very pretty. But I still find my Toshiba up-scaling DVD player to be just as satisfying, and it makes regular DVDs look much better than my LG Blu-ray player.
OMG.... Still with the XDE stuff...

Sounds like he's using Blu-ray to pimp his benefactors new box. I don't know about you, but when I watch a film in HD I really miss the widgets.

And with that, any and all credibility goes out the window, falls down into the sewers and sinks to the bottom of the earth.

No form of upscaling to 1080p can compete with native 1080p. I think that's only logical as upscaling means you extrapolate 'what it should be' from a limited data source. Upscalers calculate how the neighboring pixels 'should' look like, whereas Blu-ray shows exactly 'how it looks'

agree, the day he stops pimping the death of BD is when it will be interesting to see what he has to say. His "sponsors" have always been Toshiba and MS and so earlier it was HD DVD is the only choice and now it is don't buy BD stick with Toshiba's DVD player and DVDs until MS streaming becomes reality.

Enderle comes off as a bitter poster over on HDD.

XDE is the future!

Blu-Ray is doomed!

DVD's are the standard!

If I had the money to do so, I'd fly down to where he is for the end of the year when the summer movies hit Blu-Ray and videotape him $#!+ing himself as the numbers come in.

I think I could sell that video for $5 a pop and make a crapload of money on it.
