Yes! I love bingo. It takes place in Green Bay, Wi and that blew my mind as a kid who lived there.

I wonder where The Owl And The Pussycat is. The DVD is 20 years old…

It's available in HD digitally but unfortunately it's the same edited version that is on the DVD. It's missing Barbra telling the catcallers to "**** off". The missing footage is at 2:09 in the following video:

With this cut, the scene makes no sense.

This edited version is probably the PG version that Columbia submitted for a rating in 1972. This is the entry for it at the film ratings website:

Quote:
TITLE: Owl And The Pussycat, The (1972)
RATING: PG
CERTIFICATE #: 22585
REASON:
DISTRIBUTOR: Columbia Pictures Industries
ALTERNATE TITLES:
OTHER: Edited for re-rating
It was edited so they could re-release it in 1973 as a double feature with Funny Girl which had a G rating:

http://barbramemories.blogspot.com/2...of-barbra.html

Notice they changed the text on the poster from "The Owl and the Pussycat is no longer a story for children." to "With those 2 words out ("**** off" in the abovementioned scene) The Owl and the Pussycat is now a story for children, too!".

If this does get a blu-ray release, I hope Sony will release the original theatrical cut.

Default Two Rode Together & The Man From Laramie

Any chance Two Rode Together & The Man From Laramie will be re-released by SONY? Or do you think Kino Lorber would re-release them? I hope either option, because they are really high in price to buy those Twilight Time releases from someone on eBay or Amazon.

Kino does not have a deal with Sony. I imagine they eventually will put them out via the MOD line, as they did with A Man for All Seasons.

If Sony resubmitted it now it would be an easy PG-13 (assuming there's no other contentious material).

Both are available from Eureka in the UK if you're multi-region capable.

This should use the 4K restoration that showed up digitally on Amazon about a month ago. It is also getting released by Arrow in the UK in September:

Still waiting on Bugsy which I thought would get a release this year since it's the 30th anniversary. Still holding onto some hope.

Awesome news! My thoughts from when I watched it on The Criterion Channel last year right before it expired:

BARBARA STANWYCK AND JANE FONDA WERE IN THE SAME MOVIE? Why, yes they were! Expiring from The Criterion Channel, I wasn't even originally planning to watch Walk on the Wild Side - also starring Laurence Harvey and Capucine (who was also in Red Sun - which I watched last month before it expired) - but the casting so intrigued me that I couldn't resist. It is always incredible when two cinematic icons from different eras share the same screen, especially when you had no idea that could ever possibly be the case. What a delightful discovery. (For any wrestling fans reading this, it reminds me of a clip I saw the other day of Gordon Solie interviewing the future Triple H in WCW. Who knew they were around at the same time?)

The basic premise: Laurence Harvey meets Jane Fonda on the streets but really pines for his old flame, played by Capucine, who is now a sex worker at a New Orleans brothel run by Barbara Stanwyck. If that sentence alone isn't enough to sell you on the movie, nothing will.

Stanwyck and Fonda share only one or two scenes at most, but it's still a thrill seeing them together. Capucine is always lovely, and Laurence Harvey's easy charm is definitely something I will be seeking more of in the future (I knew of him mainly from the odd Tony Scott movie about his daughter, Domino, and the only thing I remember about that is the weird Beverly Hills 90210 reunion in it).

DaBargainHunta's Decree: Probably not the best movie any of them have ever done, but it's still a fun time. Bonus point for the weird decision to have Stanwyck's husband (played by Karl Swenson) without legs for absolutely no reason whatsoever. (Subtitles: Yes!)

Wait, does that comment about Harvey mean you’ve never seen the original Manchurian Candidate? If so, I highly recommend you check it out.

Only the crappy remake, unfortunately. I have the original on DVD (I know, I know...) somewhere though.

Default Frank Capra's Platinum Blonde & Broadway Bill

I'm hoping Sony will put out two of their Frank Capra films sometime soon, Platinum Blonde & Broadway Bill. I would love to have and watch them. Has anyone heard any kind of whisper or what have you about these titles from Sony? Cheers!

Does Sony have a streaming option? I know Universal films are tired with Peacock, Paramount with Paramount+, Disney and 20th Century with Disney+, but I'm not aware of a Sony streaming deal or maybe I've just missed it.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but does Sony have any active licensing deals with boutique labels, or any clear release pattern for their catalogue films (MOD or otherwise)? There are a few older titles (from the 90s in particular) that I’d love to see get released, but their releases seem kind of sporadic and unpredictable compared to some of the other studios. But maybe I just haven’t been following it closely enough or looking in the right places.
