I hate reading articles from authors who jump to conclusions way too quickly.
Did he really thing the PS3 would instantaneously have the same number of games as the 360? Did he think hardware sales would be identical out of the gates? Does he not think the PS3 has huge name games on the way? Does he really think that the paramount deal will destroy bluray? Does he really think the production costs for bluray are a massive issue? If he believes any of those, then hes an idiot. Also as far as their gaming division goes, im sure sony is doing fine. They still sell absolutely massive amounts of ps2 consoles and games, and their psp division is doing fine. Yes the DS dominates in handhelds, but the psp is still making money for them. |

First off, I am all for lowering PS3 prices, but I don't think that this move will "save" or "hurt" Sony like this clown seems to think. Sony makes great TV product and this line has done extremely well. I will agree that the PS3 is an integral part of Sony's strategy and it is also an extremely solid piece of hardware, but its not the end-all be-all to Sony regianing market share. Added to all of this is this constent comparison (and everyone does this) with the WII, XBOX 360 and PS3. Why do they always compare the WII? It is in its own little gaming niche, it doesn't hold a candle to the power of either the XBOX or PS3. Having all three, I can tell you the PS3 is the superior piece of hardware, if it was a little less expensive and had more "made for PS3 games", it would sell way better then it has to date. Time will tell, I think the PS3 will eventually eclipse XBOX, it needs about another year, some killer games and a lower price.

First of all I think the guy who wrote that is a total jerk-off. How about putting up some facts to back up your opinion? Since when is blu-ray and the ps3 "in dire straights".
Last time I checked blu-ray is reportedly outselling HD-DVD 2 or 3 to 1. I believe I read that the ps3 has sold more units in a shorter time than the ps2 did at launch yet everyone says what a failure it is. I also remember reading that the ps2 still outsold the xbox360 in recent quarters. The fact that the 360 has more titles... well duh devs have had 14 months to crank out games for it. So how exactly does this all spell doom and gloom for Sony? I must be an idiot because to me it seems as though sony is doing quite well considering they are launching a new console and a new format at the same time. |
