Bugs life problems. resolved.

Having problems playing a bug's life in my playstation 3, as far as I know I have the latest updates. I insert the disc, it shows the picture of the title on the menu then when it goes to load it just sits at a black screen? Any ideas? Bad disc?

My Forgetting Sarah Marshall does this when I try to play the extended version, but unlike your problem, it's my standalone player that does that...just freezes right up. My PS3 plays it fine though <scratcheshead>

I know you said that you think you have the latest FW but have you actually tried to update it and gotten a message like "You have the latest update already" (or whatever it reads).

An update showed up for the PS3 yesterday for me so you might want to check to see if there is one out there.

My BDPS300 tank plays it just fine.

Is there any BD live stuff on it? I remember when Sleeping Beauty came out it took forever for people to get the movie to load because it was trying to log onto the server or something like that. Is you PS3 hooked up to the internet? Disconnect it and see what happens. It could just be that the servers are swamped.

My loaded instantly on my PS3. No issues there. Let us know if that firmware update does the trick.

I was having the same problem with a bugs life tried installing the new update for the PS3 but my wireless was down so its updating as I type this hope this fixes the problem with A Bugs Life. If not ill return the disc and try another one.

I have the same problem with this movie on my PS3. I checked the updates and it is updated completely, I returned and got another copy, but still not working. Any Ideas?

Same here. I was just thinking about that the other day. I purchased mine in Dec '06 and it still works flawlessly and has never failed to play any movie or game that I feed it. That's a helluva good track record.

I also have a standalone Panasonic BD30 that is the same way. It doesn't even have the latest firmware, yet it played A Bug's Life just fine the other night. Generally now I skip a firmware or 2 before updating just because I'm lazy. This player never fails to work either, although it hasn't been out quite as long as the PS3. I got it around Nov '07 iirc. Still a pretty good track record.

I had teh same problem with my copy of A Bug's Life and my PS3. I just let it sit there at the blackscreen for a few minutes and it finally started playing. I noticed before hand that it starts on Title 49 and it shows no playtime for that title. But after about 3 minutes it started right up and is playing fine.

I've seen it discussed in other postings but those postings were about how great the movie is. I've seen enough postings about playback problems that I'm starting a new thread.

I have a Ps3 that I bought this last christmas. It is the larger hard drive edition. It has the latest updates as of 5/31/09. When I put in the disc it says that it is a Data Disc. I have tried turning it off and rebooting the disc 3 times. Should I return the disc and get another?

On a side note I bought T-2 last night *skynet version* and had to wait almost 40 minutes for the darned thing to finally play. (ruined family movie night) I guess it had to download the extra content. Does this happen with stand alone players also?

#1 make sure that you're not putting in the digital copy of a Bug's Life into the PS3, instead of the blu-ray disc, ya know cuz there's two discs. When you put the digital copy in it will read "Data Disc" so that may be your problem. Do you ever just glance at the disc before you put it in? If you have been putting the right disc in then I would definitely say take it back.

#2 T2 did that to me last night as well, took almost 15 min. to get to the title screen, but that's just because they had an update for the movie is all and I have a PS3 as well.

I agree that it's probably the digital copy. T2 loaded up for me just fine the last time I played it? Not sure what's going on with that.
