WTF! US X-Men Trilogy Blu-ray missing features that are on UK version and vice versa!

The UK X-Men trilogy set is apparently missing:

• BD-Live functionality.
• Digital copies of each film.

The US X-Men trilogy set is apparently missing:

• BonusView (picture-in-picture mode): featuring interview footage and behind-the-scenes clips not replicated elsewhere on the discs.
• In-Feature Photo Gallery: The ability to watch the films with accompanying still images.
• A number of extra features encoded in HD (i.e. the UK set has more of the extra features encoded in 1080i/1080p compared to the US set).
• Higher quality encodes for some or all of the films (i.e the UK set appears to have encoded some or all of the films in a higher bitrate!!)

The US set is region A locked while the UK set is region free apparently.

I'm shocked! This must me a first for Fox, leaving out features on a US release that are included on the UK version!

Can any Americans with the US set please confirm that the Picture-in-Picture mode and In-Feature Photo Gallery are definitely NOT on the US version?

Also are there any other differences that I'm not aware of?

One last thing! Some of the other European versions (Dutch? French?) of the trilogy reportedly don't have DTS HD MA English audio, only DTS HD HR! Fox are so bloody weird!

**Update!! The UK trilogy does appear to have D-Box motion codes according to the info on the back of the box for the UK version!!**

The UK version sounds better due to this:

Unless that is on the US disk in some other form...

The whole picture-in-picture viewing is really unappealing to me, so not a huge loss as the discs are already pretty packed.

The UK version has more special features in HD. Also X2 and X3 have different encodes apparently cause they have higher avg bitrates than the US counterparts.

Where did you read that the UK had different encodes for X2 and 3? Need to see if I can borrow the UK disks to compare to my US ones.

As a UK purchaser, the items you list as missing don't bother me one bit. I have no interest whatsoever in D-Box and never will do for that matter. That also goes for BD-Live and I can certainly live without digital copies.

For me it's all about the film. The extras are just that and I find that I don't always watch them, and for those that I do, I rarely go back again.

I wish they would release just the film with no extras and save me a bit of cash in the process.

The UK/German BD of X-MEN 3 is said to be encoded at a higher bit rate than the recycled encode present on U.S BD.

I've been watching it on Amazon UK since it was released and its been at a steady £32.98, which after VAT is subtracted and S&H is added comes to £31.76. At the current exchange rate that's $50.41 shipped which is the cheapest I've seen so far.
