Default BH08 drive/PowerDVD/ATI problem

Just installed LG BH08 drive and PowerDVD 7.3 on my Q6600/XP/ATI 2600
machine but cannot yet play a BD movie. The DVI connection isn't supposed
to play protected material, right? PowerDVD gives a 80004005 "undefined" error. Standard DVD's play OK.

But the DVI-HDMI dongle provided by ATI doesn't seem to work; no video at all. I can't find any docs for the 2600 on their site, but wonder if switch on
the card or in SW is needed to make HDMI active.

There is an ATI tech note saying some dongles don't work, but the one supplied with the card, Rev A does. ??

I was able to get HDMI out of the ATI by obtaining another cable. The new-in-the package cable I had was bad.

But I still get the error code 80004005 in PowerDVD when trying a BD disk. I think it may be the old ver 8.552 ATI driver. LG docs said to download the latest ver of Catalyst, but it gave me fits, so I was forced back to 8.552.
Will have to investigate this further.
