Default The Dark Knight (Batman Begins sequel)

I know it's slightly off topic considering it hasn't even come out at the cinema yet - but this movie is going to seriously kick some ass, and should arrive on blu at some stage.

I love this new Batman series for two reasons. Christian Bale is the first one, the guy is arguably the best actor in the world right now. Secondly, the fact they've gone back to the darker aspects of Batman's character makes the film infinitely more watchable.

I had some reservation about my fellow Aussie Heath Ledger playing Joker, that was until I saw this pic and it reminded me of just how scary that character should be.

Anyone else pumped for this?

I also thought heath ledger wasn't going to be able to play the joker. But as soon as I saw that pic, I said 'man was I wrong!'. I'm hoping this is the best batman movie ever! The darker the better.

I'm pumped, but after seeing pics of the "Batcycle" I hope it doesn't fall into gadgetry-as-star treatment like the other hokey movies in the previous series. the mood should remain dark, w/the main focus on Batman-as-Detective, like the comic Batman: Year One (which B. Begins did a pretty good job of emulating, at least parts of it). In further installments they should throw in cool back stories from B: YO like Gordon's affair (along w/ trying to remain "clean" in a corrupt police dept.) and catwoman (at that point a man-hating prostitute w/a thing for cats) being inspired by news reports on batman to create her own costume. IMO those things add depth to the series.

Having a look at the hand-stitched wounds on Heath's face gives me the impression they aren't going to sell out the franchise again for the "kids toy" dollar that ruined the post-burton efforts last time around.

I won't mind, however, if they make a ps3 game based on the movie (preferably one of those rare movie games that doesn't make me want to slash my wrists after playing it for 6 seconds)

...yeah, i was in the "WTF? what about Crispin Glover?" camp, but i'm feeling better about heath now.

PS - here's hoping Bats and wonder woman (go, Joss!) make serious bank, so we get a Justice League movie w/ all those stars in it (c'mon, how cool would Bale/Routh/Actress X be as a team in the same movie?)

PPS - Here's hoping even MORE (always been a bigger Marvel fan) for successful Cap America/Hulk sequel/Iron Man movies, so we can get a sweet AVENGERS combo sometime (oh, isn't there a LUKE CAGE flick comin' on, too?)!

the red make up on the Joker in those pics almost looks like blood with the way they spread it around his lips like that

It was the old Brach's Candy Factory. It was abandoned for over 4 years. Wish I was there to see it.

I feel nostalgic now. I moved from Chicago to so-cal 5 years ago. My uncle used to work at the brachs factory. I used to live near diversey and Cicero. Man I wish I could have been there for that explosion. Maybe I could have been hired as an extra! LOL. Or at least have gone to the taste of Chicago!

Quite the opposite for me. I'm a dc guy. My fave superhero (even though he has no superpowers) is batman. Spidey and wolverine 2nd and 3rd respectively.

I still think alot of DC stuff is still cool (and Bats is still tops over ANYONE), the COOLEST thing hollywood could do would be to do a big-budget movie version of the graphic novel Kingdom Come (superman & Shazam toe-to-toe? Batman kicking Lex Luthor's @$$? even Marvin from Superfriend's getting a smackdown for mouthing off? how cool is that s&%t?), but only comic fans would appreciate it.

---still excited 'bout WATCHMEN, tho...........

That would be sweet! You know what would also be awesome? A batman movie directed by quentin tarantino and produced/written by frank miller.

The second pic above (the poster) is fake/fanmade, for those who were wondering.

Some more stills have popped up recently, but I can find them...
