Wink Dvd/Blu-ray toss up? Please Read!

I love blu-ray movies, but I own over 2000 dvds. When I go to the store to purchase a movie I still find myself saying some movies are just not worth getting on blu-ray so I buy the dvd.Is there anyone out there that feels the same way?

Only if the dvd is better quality then the blu (eg: dvd has correct aspect ration and the blu does not). Otherwise, no, if I like a film enough to buy it, i'll buy it on blu (though i'll never have 2000 films, I have around 18 blu's and 15 dvd's, I generally just rent most films that I fell i'll likely only watch two or three more times).

If your tv is not bigger than a 32", its not worth it, but if you have anything bigger, buy them as fast as you can.

What would make you think the blu wouldn't look better? Wait were you kidding.

Wow that's alot of DVD's. I'm curious how much do you think you paid for those overall?

I'm not really a movie buyer anyways. I only own about 40 dvd's and 10 blu-ray's and the only double dip so far is The Matrix. I don't plan on re-buying many of my dvd's on blu. I don't watch a lot of movies multiple times but when I do, it's movies I really like and will watch the movies with commentaries and such.

Nope, cant say I do!

I sometimes envy the price of DVDs compared to Blu.. but i'd rather pay that extra few £'s to get the best quality copy available.

I love movies, and all, but I agreed with you. IMHO, there are just certain movies I don't see myself rebuying for Blu. Hell, I don't even watch the dvds of those certain movies often at all, so why would I want to buy them again needlessly on Blu?

If you're reffering to my comment, yes, it was dripping in sarcasm.

I've been buying dvds since I can remember.I used to spend at least $30 every Tuesday. To actually sit and think about it, it's kind of embarrassing. But you know what, I'd rather see my money on something I love then waste it on something I hate! Blu-rays next! (at least $5000)

I understand what you mean. I have tons of DVD I watched only once and have been collecting dust on the sehlves for years. I am now more careful with my BD purchases. Certain movies I will not bother buying again on BD.

Same here. I bought a lot of DVDs on speculation and random urges. I am much more selective on my BDs and will often netflix a movie first.

There is no magical size. Blu-Ray will look significantly better than DVD on a 15 inch monitor watched from a few inches away(think laptop on plane). It's all about distance vs. size.
