Default PS3 runs Virtua Tennis 3 in full 1080p

Quote:
The "holy grail of full HD" is confirmed for Sega's PS3 tennis title.
Quote:
At its press event in Tokyo yesterday, Sega revealed, or rather boasted, that Virtua Tennis 3 runs in 1080p on the PS3. Displaying the game on slick HD sets with 1080p placards next to them, it looked absolutely glorious in high-res.
This makes Virtua Tennis 3 the second PS3 title confirmed to run in 1080p, next to Gran Turismo HD, and demonstrates that third party publishers are able to achieve what's been dubbed the holy grail of full HD on PS3. Sony has touted the PS3's ability to render 1080p images as a large benefit over the Xbox 360, which is incapable of generating them at such a resolution.

The guy from Microsoft who said "Don't expect to see any 1080p games this year" can now officially suck my dick.

Don't forget Resistance: Fall of Man as a 1080p game.

Seriously, if MS want a good performing console, the the X360 is fine.

However, if they want to avoid becoming last place (and they will be by mid next year), they need to bring out the internal HD-DVD package.

DVD-7 alone can't even use the 1080p capabilities of the ATI graphics unit in the XBOX. In fact DVD-7 sucks if you think it can ever reach 1080p.

Higher resolutions call for higher capacity formats and DVD-7 won't cut it for this type of job.

Very true.

Resistance, is PS3 exclusive right? Does that mean it will most likely be 1080p?

it is exclusive. not sure if they plan on making this title 1080p. It might be very difficult. there seems to be a lot going on at one time. they may not do it for this type of game yet, until they figured out the potential of the new system.

Insomniac claim it is.

----
There are stories appearing online that suggest MS is going to release a patch that will allow the 360 to output 1080p media, but nothing to say what that media is.

Effectively yet another climbdown by MS who, as we all know, were only recently arguing that 720p is where it's at and 1080p is nothing to get excited about. And yet here they are continually adding to their console making it more and more like the PS3..!

As I've highlighted in another thread, the Xbox360 is looking like a High Definition mess.

You should try the 360 version, it has 4 player online play and looks almost as good

There need not ever be another tennis game but VTennis. So glad to see the series back where it should be

I know! I was about to say Resistance Fall of Man is only 720p. Realized it was a post from last year!

And does Virtua Tennis actually run in 1080p? I'd swear the box says 720p.

I read the first few posts and thought I was in a time warp. Then I saw the dates.

I have VT3 for the 360 and it's a fun game. After mass effect, I might dump my 360 while I can still get a can of soup for it. Then I'll get this on the PS3.
