Question Why are Sony Pictures allowing this?

Ghost Rider on HD-DVD? Isn't this a Sony pictures film?

You could say the same about Universal allowing their movies such as Bruce Almighty and Brokeback Mountain to be released on Blu Ray in the UK. It all comes down to who has the distribution rights.

Oh and the movie was absolutley terrible, complete garbage. So I wouldn't be too bothered about it. I bought it as a blind buy and wished I hadn't

It was not that bad dude.

It was a pretty good movie. Will I watch it over and over? No.

Oh I agree its a pretty poor movie but the picture quality was excellent on BD. I wonder is it possible to get the Bourne Trilogy on BD as an import then?

Sony has no say in it if they don't have the distribution rights in that country. For France the theatrical version was distributed by SND (don't know if that is a Sony distribution company or not).

Bourne is completely owned by Universal (both US and non-US distribution rights), so you won't see that on BD in another country. But you're probably not going to be able to import most HD DVD exclusives as BD's even if they're released in foreign countries, because usually if it's an HD DVD exclusive released in another country as BD, then they region-lock them. From what I can tell, although most BD's aren't region locked, they seemed to be region locked whenever they are: 1) not released in the US yet, or 2) HD DVD exclusives.

Furthermore, some movies may have non-USA distribution rights owned by BD exclusive companies, but companies like Universal get to actually choose if they will be region locked or not. And you can guess what they're gonna choose...

Unfortunately this is an advantage of HD DVD that there is no region coding. Thus, HD DVDers can import stuff like Harry Potter UK version, Saw being released in Germany soon, Ghost Rider, Underworld Evolution, etc.

Let the hd dud losers have their HD lite titles with no PCM or DD-THD that the BD has.

It's not about allowing any of this, but rather who has distribution rights in what region. That dictates releases overseas.

If US HD-DVD owners want these foreign disks they are going to be paying up the butt for them.

It was probably the worse movie I have seen in years. For real. It was horrible in almost every way. Bad acting, bad fights, bad story and characters. Me and my friend laughed at it the whole way through. Not laughing with.. at.

I thought it was pretty bad as well. And I consider myself a Nicolas Cage fan, for the most part.

Fantastic Four as well. I'm getting Rise of the Silver Surfer though in October for Blu.
