Cool Your Favorite MPEG-2 Blu!

MPEG-2 Blus are of the first in many of our Blu-ray libraries. MPEG-2 isn't as good as VC-1 or MPEG-4 AVC, but which is your favorite MPEG-2 Blu?

Right now, ours is "50 First Dates"

Crank

Looks better than a lot of VC-1 or MPEG-4.

Kingdom Of Heaven. MPEG2 is just as transparent as the other video codecs at sufficiently high bitrates. The problem was the initial wave of MPEG2 titles had video bitrates in the low 20's, when MPEG2 really needs 30+ Mbps.

I would say Kingdom of Heaven and Crank.

Though, I feel like there could be room for improvement from a nice AVC or VC-1 encode of Kingdom of Heaven (still one of my favorite HD movies regardless). I wish they'd release with extras :/

Shooter. The PQ is very good, despite mpeg-2.

Just watched MI:3 again last night. Looks fantastic for MPEG-2! Definitely agree with Kingdom of Heaven also.

I agree! Very under-rated! I hadn't seen it in a few years, and bought it on Blu for $8, so I figured, what the heck. It has a WONDERFUL PQ and surprisingly good AQ (the heartbeat throughout the film & stabbing/ slashing scenes).

I guess I didn't realize Shooter was MPEG-2 until this post. This has great picture quality. How did Paramount screw this title up without putting a lossless audio track on it is beyond me.

I would also throw in Stealth although many will probably disagree.
