After watching the new terminator movie last night, my roommate and I started to discuss the probability of machines taking over. Look at how far technology has come in the last 15 years. I remember when 32MB of memory on a San Disk card was the norm. Now you cant buy one that has less than 1GB and an 8GB is common. Computers and Robots that can recognize faces and learn words. Wit the world connected by the internet and hackers getting better, what does everybody on here think is the REAL possibility of a "war" happening? I guess if the machines did take over and they won, then wouldn't that be the beginning of the matrix?
Any thoughts??? |

I am not being paranoid or think it is going to happen any moment. But with computers and machines learning and scientist making AI that gets better and better, what would it take for machines to take offenses action? Look at the conficker worm. Its there and just waiting. Machine take over could be started by humans. Could start as a computer virus by humans that "Just want to see the world burn"

Not until they can get actual neural networks to function properly. I think that the idea that was in the Ender's Game series makes more sense that an AI will eventually emerge from the web when one program goes rogue. I don't think it will be malicious and won't let itself be known for a long time.
