True Blood or Dexter?

Hey,

I want to get into one of these two shows on Blu and I'm wondering which people prefer. I hear great things from both. I'll give you a little background on favorite movies and TV shows and I hope that will help give you an idea of which is better for me.

My favorite TV shows are LOST, The Office, and Fringe.

My favorite movies are Jaws, Children of Men, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Sunshine, LOTR Trilogy, Batman Begins, and Sunshine.

watching True Blood now, Great Show

I watch both shows and like the previous poster said, you can't go wrong with either one. HOWEVER, I love LOVE Dexter! It is my 2nd favorite show (Friday Night Lights!) and its VERY addicting. I watched seasons 1 & 2 back to back on DVD within a week. I was feeling withdraw when I finished. GREAT show!

TruBlood is alot slower IMO. Dexter grabs you from the getgo and just gets better and better with each episode. You won't be able to wait for the next episode- trust me

I watch true blood rather than dexter, it all just comes down to do you want to watch a realistic vampire show thats really good or a serial killer show with sadistic humor. Both shows are great its just a matter of choice man

Straight up Dexter is the Sh!t. I watched Seasons 1 within in a week and Season 2 in a matter of two days. It's highly addicting and very well rounded show.

That is a tough one.

I just finished the first season of True Blood. I'll say this, True Blood has more interesting characters. They start out as resembling something but later are given even more room to breath and grow. Except for Anna Paquin, her character was easily my least favorite on the show, she just whines a lot. Heck, even the killer on that show was more interesting, and that was before we found out who he or she was.

Dexter has the better main character, and the show has a better overall season-story arc. True Blood doesn't always seem to know what it's doing, and the main story seems to take a back seat. Dexter seasons are written very well and feel like one big story.

Don't know if that helps, but if I were you, check out both. They are excellent shows!

If I have to pick, I choose Dexter. The characters and story are better and like others have said it grabs you from the very beginning. Tru Blood is good too, but the characters seem to change who they are from episode to episode and some of it is a little cheesy. The accents are aweful too. I live in Shreveport, Louisiana and I watched Tru Blood with my girlfriend, my sister, and their friend from south Louisiana and it took them a while to get over the accents and the stereotypical Louisiana stuff. Once we got passed that and the characters started to develop, we were hooked. For anyone who has seen Tru Blood, Rene is the only one with an authentic southern Louisiana accent and all of the northern Louisiana accents are extremely exaggerated. Also, noone would ever go to a party in Monroe, Bon Temps is not a real city and there is no Renard Parish.(But it is a show about vampires so I guess it doesn't have to be that realistic.) Dexter has its flaws too, although it is more authentic Miami than Tru Blood is authentic north Louisiana but Dexter does stuff sometimes that a sociopath would never do. Overall, over looking minor details, they are both great shows but Dexter is the best of the two.

So if you're gonna buy a TV-show, it's Dexter!!! Best TV-show since The Sopranos.

See, I was REALLY dissappointed with Dexter. So much so that I have decided to not buy season 2. I have the exact same taste as you, jcarugati. Lost is an awesome show. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a fantastic film. But Dexter doesn't even come close to Lost. The acting in Dexter alone is a reason to stay away.

On the other hand, I've seen both episodes of True Blood on disc 1, and I can't wait to see more. Although the acting isn'y the best (southern accents are overexaggerated), it's got a good storyline going. I'd say it's like a good adult version of Twilight.

Wow!! You're the first person I've seen that didn't like the show... I thought it was impossible not to like Dexter.

I saw the first episode of Lost and almost killed myself with boredom, so I guess we have very different taste.
