Soooo they had this listed two years ago and cancelled only to save it to release it as a tie-in? ANNOYING.

Yeah, I was all ready to buy it. Then they cancelled it, so I bought the Blu-ray a month ago as an XMAS present for my wife, all wrapped up.... to now see this....

Same thing just happened with Looper, finally broke down, bought the UK release on Black Friday.... And then Announced this week.

They couldn't have released this back when it was originally coming out? There's plenty of things they could've done as a special edition for the new movie. Ugh.

It was so weird that they only released it in 4k (and with expanded dynamic range) for two showings on a single night only in Dolby Cinemas, perhaps only in the U.S., theatrically. The wide release was a greatly inferior 2k SDR theatrically.

I have to say it looked amazing, nicely detailed and the theatrical HDR was superb, extremely natural (of course theatrical HDR tends to not be overcooked as can often happen on UHD since it can't get as bright or as badly abused) and really added a ton, all the dark indoors with lights just looked beautiful, the SDR blu-ray does it no justice at all.

At least they are FINALLY giving this a release. It was getting annoying that so many of the few true 4k/HDR shot movies were getting UHD releases!

Now we just need Little Women 2019 and, what would be THE reference for fine details and texture and seeming like you are looking out a window or on set, Last Christmas 2019.

The sequel comes out in March, so they're tying it into that.
