Somehow this got renewed for season 2.

I enjoyed the soundtrack by Max Richter though, I've enjoyed some of his stuff in the past and I thought it was excellent. I guess it's available on Apple or whatever, but I'd love to have it on CD.

So did anything actually happen? Do you see any aliens or ships?

You do, but it almost makes you wish you hadn't because it went completely off the rails around episode 5 and became comical from there on. Almost like the creators thought there was not going to be a season 2 and then all of a sudden there is so they tried to overcorrect with ep 10, which is why you have the closing scene.

So many WTF moments and unanswered questions from the early episodes.

I gotta figure out how to unsubscribe from this thread just to teach this show a lesson that it doesn’t deserve to be talked about

You all should do the same

I mean...overall the theme to this show was

UNDERWHELMING.

I'm all about slow burns, but holy mackeral. What a thud of a final episode. People sure love to talk in this show....and talk alot..blah blah blah!

I'll still watch season 2 if I have Apple+ in a year

Just watched the season finale. Anybody have any theories about
[Show spoiler]the giant ship shown in the final shot with Trevante and his wife on the beach? The top of the ship looked like the wreckage (?) of the nuclear blast (?) that the team in hazmat suits entered earlier in the episode, which appeared to repair itself.
Quite the cliffhanger. Almost looks like season 1 was just a prelude.

Starring Sam Neil
[Show spoiler]who is only in the first episode

The beach scene at the end is a blatant rip-off of The Quiet Earth.

Huh? It's nothing like that scene. In Quiet Earth the "effect" takes the protagonist to a different world, and we see a ring planet and strange cloud formations. In Invasion
[Show spoiler]they are walking at a beach and we see an alien ship that may or may not be the same that the guys in hazmat suits had inspected earlier
.

I'd have to go back and watch it again, but I believe the
[Show spoiler]the spaceship the hazmat guys were going in to was located in the Brazilian outback, the final scene spaceship/structure was located somewhere on a USA coastline.

Regarding Niell,
[Show spoiler]that was some incredible clickbait casting, Apple should be ashamed of themselves for that stunt.

[Show spoiler]Yeah, but what the hazmat guys observed looked like the ship that had apparently crashed after the nuclear strike was "healing", so it may have lifted off and flown north. But yes, it could also be a different ship.

The only similarity I see is a beach, but that seems hardly unique to Quiet Earth. In any case the context of the scene is entirely different.

I was referring to the characters seeing something otherworldly while on the beach.

Yeah, me too. Episode 6 was almost brilliant. But I understand why it's not for everyone.

I only watched the last two episodes and I don't feel like I missed a single thing, I thought it was decent and might start to watch from season 2

Is this the show with the US Soldier in Iraq and the two kids on a school trip who get attacked by dog robots? If indeed it was I can't remember Sam Neil in it.
It looked good but the design of the aliens wasn't great.

I'm all for terse build-up and skillful stage-setting, but, we ultimately found this staggeringly dull. I'm flabbergasted it got a renewal.

There was seemingly nothing in terms of set-building or production costs, at least immediately evident on screen, that would have required that the start-up costs be amortized over two seasons, as is so common with these streaming shows.
