My dad took me to see Great White during its brief theatrical run in 1982. The red-band trailer for this movie ran before it. I was eleven years old. Still one of my fondest memories.

Interesting thing about this film is that unlike most cult films from the era, this one was actually a big mainstream success at the box office with almost $40 million. $114 million adjusted for inflation. Pretty damn impressive when you look at the other films it had to compete with during it's run: Conan the Barbarian, Rocky III, Road Warrior, Wrath of Khan, Poltergeist, E.T., Firefox, Blade Runner, The Thing, Tron, An Officer and a Gentleman, Porkys, Chariots of Fire...
Yep, I remember this movie being a big hit, and there were some critics out there who liked it, too. The year 1982 was great to be 13-14 years old and a movie fan.

1982 is the greatest year in film history.

I've had the DVD in my Amazon cart several times in the $30 range. Patience pays off. Be cool if they could offer a tri-sword letter opener bonus or something.

I don't normally pre-order from Scream but will make an easy exception to secure a copy of that awesome poster.

Hopefully it'll have the 2008 Australian DVD commentary with Pyun and Chris Gore.

It’s been quite some time since I’ve watched this. I remember little more than lots of blood, some boobs, and that ridiculous sword with the blades that shoot out at people. I’m in.

When does Shout charge you for pre-orders? When it is shipped or when you place the order?
