Sports: Football, Basketball, Baseball, Golf, Hockey, etc.

FPS (First-Person Shooters): Call of Duty, Killzone, Doom...

3PS (Third-Person Shooter): Uncharted, Gears of War, Resident Evil 4+...

Fighting: UFC, Tekken, Fight Night, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter...

RTS (Real-Time Strategy): Starcraft, Halo Wars, Monsters...

J-RPG (Turn-Based): Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Persona...

J-RPG (Action): Star Ocean, Eternal Sonata, Tales of...

Action: God of War, Devil May Cry, InFamous, Grand Theft Auto...

I don't really hate any one of those because I've played enough to know what I don't like but I love watching and playing real sports. But I don't like playing it in a videogame. I'd rather save pretending to be or do something for when I want to shoot someone or jump from a 60-story building and thunderdrop a bunch of bad guys dead. Not when I could go outside and toss the ol' pigskin or juke someone out of their mind.

Right now, music games. The quantity of game/track releases and press coverage is overwhelming. Track releases most definitely shouldn't be highlighted as front page news.

FPS is an easy pick for me. I can't play them without getting motion sickness, and I don't find them fun.

On the other hand, that would sure piss off quite a few people, so I'll pick a safer alternative and go with the "Wii games" genre. You know what kind of games I'm talking about here.

The music genre is being saturated with loads of sequels that are not any better really...

It's a toss up of sports and music. Both can go. Play sports for real and go learn a proper instrument.

After seeing a few of you mention Music games, I am leaning toward that.

It is not really a genre, but I want to vote for rushed movie tie in games. Rarely do we get a good movie tie in game. They are mostly kind of bad even when not rushed.

95% of the time I'm not a fan of turn based rpg's, however I did love Phantasy Star II, the only turn based RPG I played through.. after that I couldn't stand just watching and not actually playing. I want to play a game and be engrossed and feel like I am the character, not just watch. In short I like games that actually have game play

I guess the worst would be some of those sports games where you are a coach only, not controlling a player. So I'll vote other.

I didn't think to add Music Games...though with 70,000 versions of Guitar Hero in 2 years I can understand the annoyance. I love me some Rock Band though. It is the go-to party game at my house!

I didn't want to voice my own opinion on my thread until others started to, but I hate FPS games. I used to like them...but nothing after Unreal Tournament really gripped me. The Unreal Engine made some beautiful games before everyone was beefed up on steroids. I immediately take issue with games where the characters' necks make them look more like a bull than a person...

Why on earth would you want to take options away? Variety is the spice of life.

The only games I have a tendency to dislike are ones which are released way too often. Most sports games fall into this category, and Guitar Hero is getting there. That doesn't mean I hate those genres or refuse to play them; there's just better ways to spend my time. Still, there's people that like those games, and I'd never want to take those options away from them as long as they're willing to put up with it.

Basketball and Football are MORE different than FPS and 3PS are.

For me, nothing.

Just because I don't enjoy something does not mean others will not either. I don't like baseball, I fall asleep within 5 minutes of watching a game. Watching grass grow is probably more fun for me. Yet millions of people love and enjoy that game. So why would I wish it away? All I have to do is not watching it, it's my problem I don't like it.

I am never strong on taking anything away from anyone since I have no wish for anyone to take anything away from me. Live & let live.

FPS could seriously use a break .. most of hte FPS gsames these days are generic cloned ideas of each other with different looking characters and stories ..

I wouldn't want any genre to "end" but the ones I dislike the most are RPG and RTS.
