For those who care about English audio, the back cover says DTS-HD MA 2.0

The original release had lossy English audio, IIRC someone mentioned this was likely because too much content (extras) were included on a single Blu-ray disc.

Could be a typo, but will be interesting to see if the BD received a new encode.

Looks like all the original extras are kept so maybe some were moved to the DVD (if not previously included there) or the Feature-Length Storyboards was tweaked?

Was the Storyboard in HD? Maybe now it's SD? Were the audio tracks for the Storyboard lossless before? Maybe now they're lossy (sort of like how Commentaries are usually lossy)

No luck with this one today. Target hadn't shelved this at three stores and three Best Buys had at least a couple copies but all six or seven had dents on the fronts. Passed on all. Have to hit a fourth Best Buy or wait on Target.

I didnt even know these two were coming out. Pretty sure they werent on the upcoming releases thread until yesterday. Saw them on the shelf today when I went to pickup Heavy Metal and Cabin Fever. Never seen them before either, but have been getting every Ghibli steel.

Although these have been a nightmare to pick up (scratches and dents), I really like how they arent plastered with credits for the English language dubs like the regular editions. That was the motivating factor for why I am rebuying all these. The other is that mostly matching Grave of the Fireflies. I hope Shout finishes this set off. I think there are six more to go, including Ronja set. Not sure if Red Turtle really counts or not.

Red Turtle and Ronja would both be cool to see, but Red Turtle is via Sony so is unlikely, and Ronja (like Red Turtle) is a co-production, so they still would have to tweak the art a bit more to reflect that it’s not purely Studio Ghibli.

So then 5 left. They'd either do two batches of 2 and then 1. Or do 2 then 3. Atleast I'd hope they finish this set off.

I think it will be 2/2/1, with the final title being Ocean Waves with a newly produced English dub. If it does not get a dub, then I think one wave will be 3, but a Ghibli movie getting a new dub is big enough of a deal I’d see it getting released on its own both as a standard and SteelBook at once by GKids.

Like all the other releases since Ponyo, I had to return my first copy to Amazon but the second copy was in better shape, only had a spine slash which isn’t bad compared to others I’ve gotten in this series.

Bummer but glad it’s in better shape. I pick mine up at Target stores since they always have been getting these, and this one specifically it was the 4th location I stopped at before finding copies that lacked a spine slash. Kaguya on the other hand I found plenty of good looking copies at each store.

Good deal on Ghibli/anime steels at B&N at the moment...

Makes it much cheaper than Amazon at the moment, and this is one of the few Ghibli movies I haven't seen yet.

This one is cursed for me. The last one I need and I can’t seem to get an undamaged copy. I’ve gone through most every retailer I can think of - dented and/or scratched every single time. B&N is one I haven’t tried, though. Do they package well?

Edit: Apparently this is the one Ghibli steel NOT listed on their website lol. Of course.
