Default Disappointed with Amazon UK!

I ordered Annie Lennox: The Annie Lennox Collection on vinyl from them and it was delivered in a timely manner, which is great. However, the product they sent me wasn't sealed. There are some blemishes on the back cover, but nothing dramatic thank God! I checked the physical Lp's and they appear to be mint (as in never played).

I was very surprised to receive a non-sealed product from them and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

This is the second time I've had an issue with amazon UK. The first time was on another vinyl purchase of Pink Floyd's Echoes, which had badly damaged spines. I'm going to order another copy and return the damaged one.

I've usually been fairly happy with them, but this is the second time I've had an issue and I'm debating whether or not I should ever order from them again.

Any thoughts on this, guys?

John

The only times things haven't come sealed are from Amazon... but if you email them they will send you out another one before they even have the first one returned to make it quicker.

I wasn't aware of that as this is the first time it has happened to me. But thanks for the info...and I won't trouble myself over it then. I certainly don't want to lose faith in them as I like to buy stuff that I can't get here.

Thanks again for the info JW!

Thanks. Might give that a try. However, I'm wondering if this isn't a case of the manufacturer (Sony Music UK) not sealing their products at times. Are LP's in the UK not always sealed, regardless of how you buy them (online or B&M)? Maybe one of our UK members can enlighten me in this.

I have also had customs open things up as well ...Dunno why, but they do. They did that with some steelbooks once with an amazon.de order. Kinda sucks but happens. HMV is the worst, I get alot unsealed from them.

Hi OP,

Some products distributed by Amazon UK are unsealed for Quality Control, directly from the distributor. Sometimes you can request a partial credit for unsealed items. I've ordered several thousand of dollars from Amazon UK over the years, and they've always rectified it for me. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. I think an email is definately worth a shot. If they'll knock off a few bucks, it'll be worth it.

I will give you fair warning about buying used vinyl from the U.K. Dealers over there simply do not grade their vinyl very well and are not up to the standards of Japan or the U.S. Obviously this does not apply to Amazon.co.uk as I presume you bought new vinyl, but I thought I should mention it.

Thx for the warning Clark, but I only buy used vinyl locally. Ratings for used LP's are all over the place and I don't really trust most of the ratings unless I see it myself and comes with a warranty. I have a few places locally, plus I've attended a couple of record fairs....
