Imagine an early Eighties Eastern European space-prog album high on sugary breakfast cereal, “Heavy Metal” magazine, Hanna-Barbera cartoons and 8-bit arcade games like Galaxian and Asteroids, and you have some idea of the otherworldly weirdness of the Romanian animated sci-fi film DELTA SPACE MISSION. In the year 3084, a Modigliani-esque alien journalist with blue-green skin, Alma, boards a state-of-the-art spacecraft named Delta – whose highly advanced computer brain develops a mad teenage crush on her with disastrous results. An incredibly strange and strangely beautiful work of galactic eye candy, DELTA SPACE MISSION defies all rules of perspective and logic, like M.C. Escher and Moebius teaming up on a Romanian Saturday morning cartoon. Fueled by an addictive Perry-Kingsley like electronic synth score by Calin Ioachimescu, DELTA SPACE MISSION grooves along folding space and time, an early Eighties Euro disco perched on the edge of a Black Hole. With its egg-shaped spaceships, giant floating triangles and anthropomorphic computer, the film also brings to mind Kubrick’s 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, Rene Laloux’s FANTASTIC PLANET and the work of the Strugatsky Brothers (STALKER).

Amazing to see this receive a Blu-ray release and it looks like an impressive package.

I remember seeing this on TV years ago, dubbed into English. It's a shame that the old English dub looks like it's not been preserved here, but I'll still be looking to pick this up.

Just to confirm previous post, I tried disc in Region B player and it is for sure Region A Locked

Slipcover is exclusive to Vin Syn, however some other online retailers like DiabolikDVD carry them with slipcovers. Their current listed states Slipcover.

Thank you for the replies, I forgot to check here after work (they restricted access to the Vinegar site). I think even though I won't be able to play it just yet, the artwork is too great to pass. So the slip case version will have the standard artwork on the insert, so if I buy that version I'll have the best of both "spaces"?

Does Diabolikdvd ship internationally? It won't show me an available option for Switzerland but if I try to pay with Paypal it seems to allow me to but I wouldn't want that it gets cancelled. Seems like a weird loophole not being charged any shipping.

Yep slipcase version inside case is the same case sold without slip.

Thank you, eventually ordered from Vinegar itself, the price was identical to Diabolik, which actually did calculate the shipping when I tried again.

This took less than 5 days to arrive from the US to Switzerland. Ordered from Vinegar Syndrome directly, within a couple of hours I had a FedEx notification of delivery and it was delivered yesterday. Never seen anything like it.
Also it was packaged perfectly, so the slipcase is intact. So happy.

Surprising that an unused score has both a digital and and physical release, but that Călin Ioachimescu's awesome score has no release whatsoever (that I can find).
