Like the majority of modern superhero movies they both turn into CGI orgies. But at least Shang-Chi started off as a pretty decent MCU take on martial arts films which was different in a good way.

Some of the stuff Wan did in Aquaman really makes me wonder if he was just in a hurry to get shots completed. Like Mera's really strange introduction. She just casually emerges from the water in the background during a conversation Aquaman is having in the foreground. Also Black Manta was thrown in and became a fifth wheel.

Aquaman wasn't terrible by any stretch but wow, a billion dollar gross? I guess people really like Jason Mamoa.
