I subscribed to Prime while it was $79 and $99 per year. After that I only subscribed during Prime Days when deals are mostly for Prime members only. I used free trials or paid for a month if I saw a must have Prime Day deal. The rest of the year, even holidays 2021, I couldn't find enough deals to justify Prime. Prime Video doesn't hold much value now due to so much new programming to watch on almost every streaming service. You reach a saturation point where you can't handle any more.
In spite of the price increase, I expect Amazon will make far more on the extra $20 paid by remaining Prime members than they will lose from people who don't renew. |

Unless something else happens, I'll still be renewing in July. I use it enough that $11.67/month is still worth it to me for the "free" shipping, as well as the streaming.
Netflix will be raising their monthly price to $15.50. If only they included shipping. ![]() Elon Musk. Last edited by strumdogg; 02-04-2022 at 09:25 AM. Reason: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/24926 |

i haven't used it enough to justify keeping it at that cost increase for now. i'll be mulling it over at least until my renewal comes up.
i'm pretty much using it solely for the shipping as i've not really watched anything on Prime aside from thursday night football. i wish there was a shipping only package |

I guess this shouldn't have been much of a surprise. If the current pattern holds, in 4 more years, it'll go up yet again. Apparently, amazon's accountants have pre-determined inflation for the service at $20 every 4 years: It went from $79 to $99 in 2014, to $119 in 2018, and now to $139 in 2022.

I took a survey the other day inferring that amazon is trying to determine which prime service customers value least, as if they might drop one, despite the price increase. Though, I suppose the questions could also be explained by a competitor wanting to start their own version of prime and trying to figure out if they need to include every feature that amazon does.
