Default Can Sony VGN-AR41L play Blu Ray

Hi All,

I'm new to all this stuff so please bear with me. I just bought a Sony VGN-AR41L and have connected it to my LCD tv via HDMI. Will my laptop play Blu Ray discs as standard or do I need to buy more software? Not sure whether Windows Media Centre will support Blu Ray. Think I have Windvd 8 pre installed.

Thanks.....

ps apologies if im repeating another thread.

If this is right about the optical drive:

Then no, you need to buy a Blu-ray drive. And I don't know if they sell it for laptops yet.

If it comes with a Blu-ray drive most probably it will have come with everything you need. Be aware most Laptops will only display a Blu-ray disc on either the laptop monitor, or the external monitor - an error is given if both are enabled. It seems your only option is borrow a disc and try it. To make it easier, just use the laptops display as a proof of concept, then try the external set-up.
