Have to admit I am completely surprised that we got a gen 9 reveal as well as the starter reveal too. Not even a hint of a leak which is fantastic, and the fact it's due this year is insane.

Has to be some sort of time travel aspect to it with the clock spinning like it did.

I wonder what the region is, and looks like near future, not "present" day if that is such a thing.

Looks like it is based on Spain.

Seems like these games will not have a full roster of Pokmon which is fine by me. You will only be able to transfer Pokmon to it from Home that exist within the games. So not all Pokmon will be coded within these titles.

The Pokmon Scarlet and Pokmon Violet games, the newest chapters in the Pokmon series, are coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. With these new titles, the Pokmon series takes a new evolutionary step, allowing you to explore freely in a richly expressed open world.

Various towns blend seamlessly into the wilderness with no borders. You’ll be able to see the Pokmon of this region in the skies, in the seas, in the forests, on the streets—all over! You’ll be able to experience the true joy of the Pokmon series—battling against wild Pokmon in order to catch them—now in an open-world game that players of any age can enjoy.

The three Pokmon from which you’ll be able to choose your first partner are Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. How will you meet these three, and what sorts of Pokmon are they?

English Name: Sprigatito
Jp. Name: Nyaoha

Type: Grass-type
Classification: Grass Cat Pokmon
Height: 0.4m
Weight: 4.1g
Ability: Overgrow

Details: The capricious, attention-seeking Grass Cat Pokmon.

English Name: Fuecoco
Jp. Name: Hogeeta

Type: Fire-type
Classification: Fire Croc Pokmon
Height: 0.4m
Weight: 4.1kg
Ability: Blaze

Known Moves
Details: The laid-back Fire Croc Pokmon that does things at its own pace.

English Name: Quaxly
Jp. Name: Kuwassu

Type: Water-type
Classification: Duckling Pokmon
Height: 0.5m
Weight: 6.1kg
Ability: Torrent

Known Moves
Details: The earnest and tidy Duckling Pokmon.

As one of the main characters, you’ll set off on your adventure. Your outfit will vary depending on whether you play Pokmon Scarlet or Pokmon Violet. Who knows what kind of story awaits you?

Definitely didn’t expect a Gen 9 announcement with Arceus just releasing and being a huge hit. Looks like they are taking the Arceus game design into these, hopefully the game play mechanics too. Visually its still garbage though.

I like the three starters, grass cat the most probably. I think not having all Pokemon in every game is honestly a good thing, despite the internet rage.

Looks like they are even improving on Arceus by having seamless environments rather than loading in to each hub area.

Feel spoiled with all the Pokmon games we have got in such a short period of time.

I wonder if that means there will be a rather long period between Gen 9 and the next game or if they will try and stick to a yearly release cycle with other spin off games in between.

Im curious the teams dynamic now within Game Freak, I thought it was reported the A squad was the ones doing Arceus but with this coming so soon after seems to not be the case or that theyve expanded the dev team.

There's nowhere to go but up from the abominations that were Sword & Shield. Here's to hoping this gen is better than the last.

Visuals are what you'd expect from a Pokemon game but there's still a lot of time left to polish them. I'm hoping they look better than Legends Arceus but I'm not holding my breath.

The starters all look nice. I'll have to see the final evolutions before I decide which I'm going with but I like the cat the most so far.

I enjoyed Sword/Shield & Arceus, so I am looking forward to this, but man I don't really like the designs for the starters or the playable main characters. Oh well, I will just have to deal with it. Hopefully, I will be finished with Brilliant Diamond before this game is out (probably not, since I don't really like it much).

Man, will Gamefreak ever learn how to make a world that doesn’t look like crap? We know even the Switch is capable of much more.

The character models do look good though, outside of that this might as well have been the reveal trailer since they didn’t really go into any detail about anything.

The entire time I was watching the trailer I kept thinking how lifeless and unappealing the overworld looked. The trailer did nothing for me honestly. Standard Pokemon game, one big rinse and repeat. Obviously I'll be picking up a copy on launch but I'm not impressed yet. There is big shoes to fill here after what a fantastic time I had with Legends Arceus.

The lack of voice acting still bothers me. It looks so stupid having characters mouths moving with no voice and only text. Time to get with the times, Gamefreak.
