There’s rumours going around today that Kojima has been in talks with Sonys acquisitions team. Would be interesting if Sony got the MGS rights as well Koji pro.

I know this might sound controversial. But Kojima needs to stay the hell away from MGS in anything but a consultancy role.

He's literally dragged his feet over the series imo since MGS4 in development and he took so long on MGS V that they first tried to release Ground Zeroes to make cash and benefit from him dragging his feet and then it seems because of his dawdling, they gutted the entire final act to just get it out the door.

The man is a bona fide developer Diva imo. He's clearly brought a lot to the MGS world, but i think he needs to be kept away from the main development because he will big it down and probably be the reason it doesn't release for like 5 years.

NO NO NO NO **** NO HELL NO. Do not blame the bullshit on MGS V on Kojima. Konami had so much internal BS against him they made decisions and tossed out a game that was incomplete.

Konami buried Kojima over his development ideals, cancelled his studio, and during the restructuring of Konami fired an employee of 30 years. That shit does not happen without some major philosophical shift which is what happened when Konami went from games to Slot machines.

Would Kojima be interesting in making another MGS? I think after every MGS 2-5 he's said it would be the last one he'd make.

Maybe a different work situation changes things.

From what I've read, Konami basically yanked MGS 5 out of Kojima's hands before it was finished.

If not Metal Gear, what if he did a remake/sequel to Snatcher or Policenaughts?

He said during development he felt 5 was the natural conclusion, however if he were allowed to finish 5 as he wanted would he revisit I would hope so

Whilst i'm not defending Konami in any way, because i think they did some things wrong in how it was handled, Kojima has morphed into a bona fide diva imo and he dragged his feet a lot more than before. I would argue his descent started down this road with MGS4 and the self indulgent 1hr long cutscenes he practically shoved in. Also, i love MGS4 btw, but i'm pretty damn sure the dragged out development of MGS V was due to Kojima and his behaviour of trying to be a "perfectionist" which is where i feel he came undone a bit as the budget ballooned.

That's why i don't want him in anything but a consulting role. If he's heading it up, it will take almost an entire generation to probably complete the games. Think R* having not put out another GTA over an entire consoel generation and change

Personally i didn't feel it was a masterpiece but i can see how some could feel that way towards it. It was a solid game but the ending felt cut at the knees. A bit like FF15 in the final act.

I just feel he would work better as a consultant on the overall direction, feel etc. but you would get a significantly better output of games if he wasn't in charge like before dragging his feet.

This times infinity. Just make the original games playable on current-gen consoles. I know gamers have a hard-on for remakes and think anything older than five years is stinky and clunky and unplayable, but I think the earlier MGS games have aged remarkably well mechanics-wise.

We'll see what comes of this, but for now, I believe this as much as a new iteration of Silent Hill (rest its soul) coming out anytime in the near to distant future.

Oh I would be all about that! A Metal Gear Solid 5 Directors Cut would be awesome! However I doubt that would happen. That would probably involve having to record extra dialogue and mocap work that would need to be added. Would Kiefer Sutherland or any of the other voice actors be available? Seems like a pie in the sky wish.

It literally was cut at the knees. As you probably know, there was supposed to be a whole other act involving Liquid Snake and the Metal Gear

Yeah, i remember reading about how Konami lost their patience with how long Kojima had taken and the goodwill from the sales of Ground Zeroes began to dry.

Ultimately i think Kojima has talent, but he's an individual who takes too long. I would actually argue he's like Kaz from Polyphony in that respect and takes the mick in developing the games. We never got an entire Gran Turismo mainline entry for PS4 till practically the very last burn of the life cycles. With Kojima, i feel he also seems to lack a certain sense of timescale adherence.

Half masterpiece I'd say. Gameplay was aces. Sadly most of the good story was in recorded dialog and not on screen. Thinking of them actually finishing V and incorporating the story proper would be such an epic game as a whole.

Kojima may be one of those artists who is never fully satisfied with his work, and goes back in to refine it, but still has the other half yet to be completed.

Keeping in mind, compared to MGSV, he cranked out the Silent Hills demo, and Death Stranding too in much shorter time. So there is hope he can work faster.

That is a good point. If Konami really cared, they wouldn't be focused mostly on Pachinko lottery games that have nothing to do with their video game history.

Kojima left Konami and went independent. Then released an entirely new IP in roughly three years. That is insane in regards to game development for a brand new IP. So no MGS V was not in anyway a fault of Kojima. Konami was constantly back-seating his development forcing him to make changes and cut things at a moment notice. Game development is not easy and the longer a game takes the better. The game is a masterpiece for what was released. If Konami let him finish the game it would have been even more-so. THE MGS franchise is nothing without Kojima.

For clarity sake. Horizon Zero Dawn took six years to develop. MGS 5 took roughly the same amount of time given they re-did the entire engine for the game.
