Default Box-office Showdown (3/25-3/27) The Lost City w/Sandra Bullock

The new Sandra Bullock comedy The Lost City opens on Friday; boxofficepro.com is predicting an OW between $15m-$25m

How much do you think it will actually make on opening weekend?

I’m thinking this one will be a surprise hit. People seem to always dig the trailer at movies I go to and it’s a star-driven theatrically exclusive comedy with a family friendly rating.

Apparently trackings low balling this, I think the trailers atrocious for this, but it is a film for an audience that has been neglected at the cinema, so I can see it beating Batman this weekend.

Agreed about the trailers, and that poster is horrific.

I'm a sucker for adventure movies and I love Romancing the Stone so I hope this is way better than the trailer makes it look.

Deadline was saying $20-30 million in tracking, assuming the good early reviews hold up, I could see it on the higher end

$28M-$32M.

This movie's audience is definitely all walk up business not buy tickets in advance business.

Really? How do you know that this movie isn't someone's juicy steak? Just because it's an economy burger to you doesn't mean that it is one to everyone else.

Deadline is estimating The Lost City could go as high as $30m+, adding that the movie could bring back the female demographic to movie theaters:

Quote:
Exhibitors and rival distributors are hopeful that The Lost City finally will draw in female audiences. On Monday, NRG reported that moviegoers’ comfort levels during the pandemic are at an all-time high, with 83% being very or somewhat comfortable. Also, women over 35, who are part of Lost City‘s target, grew to 78% very or somewhat comfortable level, +3 points from a week ago. Women under 35, also a hot audience for the film from directors Aaron and Adam Nee, stand at 88% positive in regards to being very or somewhat comfortable at the cinema now, while men over 35, who are expected to tag along with their wives or dates, stand at 79%.

Couldn't pay me to see that. I'd almost sit through WW84 or Space Jam 2 over that.

It's given me a reason to go to a Regal theater after almost 3 years, so I'mma check it out. Could be a decent survival story.

I think it will break $25m. It might not be great, but we're going to see it. Already saw The Batman multiple times and want to see something new.
