The show went downhill when Seven entered the picture. What was funny was when he was eventually written out of the show by putting his face on a milk carton. lol

It didn't go done in quality, they introduced Seven as a joke for sitcoms to add a new character(especially a kid) to help with ratings. The show was always a parody of sitcoms though it became so popular that later sitcoms copied it and then many things from the show became the norm in sitcoms.

Not sure if I recall a "shark jumping" moment from the show. Unfortunately most of the episodes I saw were the perhaps shorter syndicated versions since I mainly watched it right before Conan aired when I was in middle school. Used to watch it every weekday night and they'd randomly cycle the seasons, so it was kind of fun to watch that way. Been meaning to check it out again as I already own the complete box set on dvd. Another show from that era, Martin, didn't hold up quite as well but it might've been because I was watching several episodes at a time and perhaps it's better in smaller blocks.

I'd love for this show to get a proper 4:3 HD Remaster even though today's world would find this type of comedy as "offensive," but that's the point of comedy, majority laugh their ass off while others may find it "unfunny."

Even The Office went a bit far sometimes for the PC world although no one has tried to get it canceled (not that they'd get their way to, anyway).

The West is trying to cancel anything with the letter Z because of the sitation in Eastern Europe and there are people on the web who are actually serious about a show/movie/episode with that to be renamed (quite pathetic, tbh). The Office has one with the letter Z, it's "Booze Cruise," but better not give them any ideas.

Guess I shouldn't rewatch The Mask of ZZZorro any time soon.

Do you remember the "controversy" about the Amazon's app logo? Some people thought it looked like Hitler's mustache so they slightly changed it.

It's so absurd it's hard to believe it's real.

People who get offended with everything are the problem, not the product.

Started watching the first season and it's great (previously only seen clips on YouTube), but tbe laugh tracks kind of ruin it a bit.

There's times I laugh and there isn't a laugh track, and so on. It really didn't need it.

The Political Correctness & Woke movement has really gotten out of hand. You are correct, that in today's world, it seems that people get offended by almost everything. I guess these kind of people won't be happy until we live in a cold, sterile, humorless world completely devoid of anything even remotely satirical, provocative or funny. It''s a sad commentary on today's society.

Weren’t we all? Though for my money, always thought Peg was hotter.

This show and subsequently George Carlin are large reasons I’m such a warped individual. Thank you MWC!!

My favorite episode is when Al gets confused for a senior citizen, then enters a senior citizen athletic competition so he can win.

Wasn't always a laugh track until the latter and final seasons. Early-mid seasons had studio audiences and I think the last episode to be filmed live in front of one was the "Johnny Be Good" episode.

It sure is. Oh and understand - even if you sterilize, de-genderize & de-ethnicize everything, it.... those same souls are still going to be mad about sumptin'. Thats what they get out of bed each day for. Its a feeble existence. So sorry for them.

Anyways - Married With Children. All-time classic. Nothing more to be said.

Despite the comically outrageous nature of the show, I always thought (and still do) that it was a little bit more realistic in its portrayal of a modern family circa the 1980s / 1990s more so then the saccharine silliness of the Crosby Show or Family Ties for example. The character of Al Bundy said a lot of things that most of us think but never dare say, and I applaud the show for pushing the boundaries via its sheer audacity and staunchly anti-politically correct nature. That's why I think the show struck such a chord with so many people and why it was so wildly popular.

A show like this would never be possible in today's climate where people are offended by everything, which is a shame because the world isn't the squeaky clean sterile place that the Woke & PC gang leading the charge would like it to be.

100% accurate. Al said what the vast majority of Dads felt and also said behind closed doors. It was realistic. Sure, as you said, those other shows had the "beaver cleaver" replies from the adults and some "message" to share . But, it was usually very vanilla and saccharine as you said.

That’s the beauty of these classic shows with NO regulations or note takers making sure they don’t dare cross that line and upset some pillow biter. It’s just real and raw. Great entertainment. There are a few shows that do some of this. The dad has n Malcolm in the Middel says some "whoa" stuff here and there. But nothing like Al Bundy!

Im looking to pick up this series but need some help. First off since it was taped it sounds like a blu ray hd release is out of the question so dvd will have to do. However there are several ways to buy it. There are the individual seasons but i read starting in s3 they cut the theme music. There are 2 or 3 mill creek sets..one with cardboard holders and one with paper sleeves. Ive read the picture quality is terrible on them though due to cramming so many eps on a disc. I also saw a complete series larger yellow box but i dont know anything about that one. What is the best set to get for this series?

This is the only one I've ever bought so can't tell you how it measures up against the others, sorry. Can warn you, though, if you get this one, the discs are stacked.
