Default Untitled Safdie Bros. Project Starring Adam Sandler

Quote:
In theory, there’s a reciprocal relationship between veteran talent that needs liberating material and nascent directors whose financing needs an A-list name. That’s Adam Sandler realizing, at a turning point in his career, that he needed the Safdie brothers and “Uncut Gems” as much as they and the project needed him. He still does, between his parade of lowbrow Netflix efforts: Sources tell me Sandler and the Safdies are already cooking up another project. [+]

I love Uncut Gems and love the Safdie’s, but I kinda want Gems to be their one time knockout with Sandler and move onto something new.

By all means sign me up, but the bar is set so high here that I’m practically getting vertigo imagining an attempt that could even topple it.

I want them to work with Buddy Duress again. I could see him and Sandler in a film about bumbling thieves.

I get what your saying but I have to disagree. Saying something like that right now is totally unfair for the Safdie bros and Sandler. Again, I see what your saying that Uncut Gems seems more "special" cause it was so leftfield for a Sandler role and was also a great film, but why stop there? If Sandler gets another opportunity to do something completely out of the box again with or without the Safdie's, he should continue going that route, while still pumping out Netflix films.

There's no doubt Uncut Gems was great but I don't like how others hold it in high regard as if it's some prestigious masterpiece and that it should be a stopping point for Sandler and Safdie bros collaboration, I just don't think that's fair. I would agree with you if the collaboration was happening regularly but whos to say Sandler and Safdie's won't knock it out the park again? I think we should just wait and see what happens. I love Sandler in his goofy comedy roles but I'd also like to see Sandler do some more Arthouse cinema that can show more of his serious acting chops. I kinda feel the same way when Nicolas Cage did Pig but I do get that the circumstances are a bit different here.

He really wants another chance at the Academy. Or he just wants an excuse to be Chris Rock's bodyguard.

It's a Netflix project.

The streamer would also not confirm plot details though several sources say it is likely set in the world of high-end card collecting.

Josh Safdie will direct on his own

Quote:
Josh and Benny Safdie, the award-winning sibling filmmakers behind Uncut Gems and Good Time, are splitting up temporarily ahead of what had been expected to be their next project together, Above the Line has exclusively learned.

The Safdies had been busy prepping a new Netflix movie starring Adam Sandler, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Megan Thee Stallion, with Ben Affleck in negotiations to co-star. The plot is said to involve sports memorabilia, with Affleck eyed to play a former athlete.

While the Safdie brothers co-wrote the script and will both be credited as producers, sources say that Josh Safdie will be directing the film on his own. I’m told this decision had nothing to do with the recently reported controversy surrounding the Safdies’ former producing partner, Sebastian Bear-McClard.

Potentially bad news:

Quote:
Adam Sandler says his next film with the Safdie Brothers has been heavily delayed by the strikes as “a lot of the film was gonna be shot during live baseball.”

“We're figuring it all out right now. I'm not sure when it's gonna happen.”

Safdie Bros. might be the Cohen Bros. from their generation. I'm excited.
