Two pleasantly surprising choices for June with this and Love and Human Remains.

I already picked up the UK Blu-ray, but haven't watched it yet. I wonder if this will be a new transfer. The couple of user reviews on this site are mostly negative with regards to the video quality. It's region free with no extras.

I believe this is a 1080/50i disc, so the Sony should be an improvement there, at the proper speed and 1080p. Also, the film should be in 5.1 sound, so hopefully, the Sony disc will have a lossless 5.1 track, although their DVD was apparently 2.0 surround.

I've had a few different editions of this mistreated film and then I discovered the German release from Arthaus. It's the best of them and looks beautiful.

Will this release come with a slipcover? I thought Sony Classics always did.

I'm not expecting one, but I can tell you tomorrow -- my copy from Amazon shipped and it'll arrive on the release date!

I received my copy from Amazon -- no slip. I also noticed that it's now up on iTunes, as well.

Yeah, Sony MODs never have slipcovers. I got Love And Human Remains and that doesn't have one either.

Three months since its release, I still haven't found any reviews for this one. Those of you who picked it up, how does it look/sound? Any extras (from the old DVD or otherwise)?

Region Coding Enquiry: In his review of Wilde, Dr. Stephen Larson listed the Region coding as being "A", with "B" and "C" untested. I subsequently wrote to Dr. Larson asking if he could attch to his review an image of the back cover of the case, as this usually contains such information. Presently, I am awaiting a response. At the moment, region coding information relys on the kindness of members who will take the time to update the information, based on their own discoveries. It would be great if Blu-ray.com had a general guidance policy for all reviewers to include, not only an image of the front cover, but also one of the back cover, so that we, the members, may see for ourselves what the region code is on any given release. In the meantime, I would be very grateful if any of the above members who have already received a copy of this specific release would be kind enough to look at the back of the case, and post what information is shown regarding the coding. Writing from Australia, I am seeking to discover if the disc is Region B. Many thanks to you all.

Update: My sincere thanks to Dr. Larson for adding an image of the back of the Blu-ray case. It confirms the movie is region free, as it states ABC. Very much appreciated.

You would be surprised at the number of discs that have Region A on the back but are in fact region free.
