Warner Bros Green Lantern: Beware My Power 4K UHD (2022)

Green Lantern: Beware My Power (2022) 4K Blu-ray

Quote:
In Green Lantern: Beware My Power, recently discharged Marine sniper John Stewart is at a crossroads in his life, one which is only complicated by receiving an extraterrestrial ring which grants him the powers of the Green Lantern of Earth. Unfortunately, the ring doesn’t come with instructions – but it does come with baggage, like a horde of interplanetary killers bent on eliminating every Green Lantern in the universe. Now, with the aid of the light-hearted Green Arrow, Adam Strange and Hawkgirl, this reluctant soldier must journey into the heart of a galactic Rann/Thanagar war and somehow succeed where all other Green Lanterns have failed.

Available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and Digital on 7/26/22.

Hilariously the first thing I noticed is the spine and that they’re finally giving us the rest of the “C” that they started and left off with on “Justice Society: World War II”

I keep all the DC animated films in release order on my shelf, but will definitely make an exception to that now….

Something interesting I've noticed is that the Blu ray versions and 4k versions will have their own mural letters. The c part on this is on the top of the Blu ray version of long Halloween part one. We're supposed to be getting long Halloween in 4k later this year as a combined release so I'm guessing it will get the next part of the mural, unless another movie comes out before it.

The standard Blu ray for this green lantern movie continues the mural from were long Halloween part 2 leaves off. Seems that they want people who are only 4k or only Blu ray to be able to complete the mural without having to buy the other format.

Getting this Day 1, but am I the only one who wants a series of films in a shared universe for these DC animated movies? Don't get me wrong, I love the standalone, true-to-source-material offerings that we're getting. But in addition to those standalones, would a shared universe be profitable for them?

This is a shared universe, it's in the same continuity as Superman Man of Tomorrow, Justice Society World War II, and Batman The Long Halloween.

But is there any sense of continuity between the movies?

[Show spoiler] Batman is referenced in Superman Man of Tomorrow, Superman has a small role in Justice Society World War II, and Flash and Green Arrow have a small appearance in Batman the Long Halloween.

They're not strongly connected, you can definitely watch anyone of them without watching the others. But they are technically connected.

Right. I’d love a series of strongly connected DC Animated movies. I think it could be cool. Again, don’t get me wrong, I love them as-is, but it could be cool.

I prefer these things to be more standalone. I don't mind some smaller cameos and a few nods here and there but I'd rather see each movie stand on its own.

Me too. LOL Now I'm on the hunt for Superman: Man of Tomorrow with slip, the only movie with the interlocking spine images that I wasn't in a rush to own because I'd seen it already and didn't fall in love with it. But that spine puzzle on GL is the only reason why now I "need" the Superman movie on my shelf, because I'm a dork.

So I ordered my copy from Amazon and it arrived today. And for those of us fixated on building the puzzle image along the top of the spine art, THE SPINE ART IS WRONG!

Or rather, it's right, per the preview image in the first post. But after I put this with the previous Blu-rays together, I saw that this sliver of art with Aquaman and Constantine inside a "C" … WAS ALREADY USED ON THE SPINE FOR Batman: The Long Halloween - Part One! We neglected to recognize that when the packaging preview art was released.

I saw the trailer for this movie and would've bought this anyway. But … geez. I'll be posting photos to my Instagram and tagging Warner Bros. I don't expect any replacement for an O-sleeve or insert just embarrass someone over there for the oversight.

I don’t own them all, but saw somewhere on this forum they are different between 4K and bluray. You can’t mix them.

Wait, so are you mixing Blu-rays with UHDs on your shelf? That might be your issue….They did not release “Long Halloween Part One” (or Two) on UHD and instead held that back for UHD until the upcoming combined movie deluxe edition….so the “C” on this UHD would be following the UHD of “Justice Society WWII”….but the BDs would now be following their own different “puzzle image” at this point since they had the two parts for Long Halloween…
(Looking online, I see the BD for this new Green Lantern does in fact have a different top spine puzzle image than the UHD does…)

To GeneDS and WMAangel, you can see my Instagram post at the link below. You see that all of them are Blu-rays except Justice Society: World War III which is UHD. But they all have a successfully connecting image…until you get to the last one (which is also UHD) on the right for GL:BMP. So I'm not sure I buy the BD vs UHD argument.

That actually confirms my argument

The first three (Superman, Batman, Justice Society) are identical on both BD and UHD….but then the two parts of Long Halloween were released on BD only, so the puzzle image continues on those, however, this new Green Lantern is the next UHD release in the “shared universe” series, and so it is continuing the image from the last UHD released (Justice Society)….meanwhile, since the BDs are now two releases ahead, the Green Lantern BLU-RAY continues on from after LH P2….

To put it another way: Warner isn’t expecting you to mix formats…if you put just the UHDs in order, then the image continues on properly….on the flip side, if you put just the BDs in order, the image also properly continues on (and as of right now, is two further along than the UHDs)….

I understand your argument. And it makes sense to a degree. If I remove both parts of The Long Halloween, it's "fixed"! LOL So I get that.

But if that means TLH is not part of the "shared universe", it's misleading to include the interconnecting art on their spines, BD or not. They could've done what they did for other recent releases Catwoman: Hunted and Constantine: House of Mystery. I own the Blu-ray for them (not UHD) and their spines are correctly absent the interconnecting spine art.

I admit I'm also having a tough time believing Warner Bros. would create two pathways of spine art, one for standard Blu-rays and an entirely alternate one for UHDs, for the same movies. Makes me want to examine the art for both formats of all these releases to see if that's what they actually did. But I hope others chime in here who own either versions of them to confirm what's on them.

But my Instagram post also included UK spine art that shows Green Lantern on the spine, not Aquaman and Constantine. That makes this whole thing even more confusing.

Buddy you’re reading into it too hard.

Bluray spine set is different from 4K spine set.

Catwoman Hunted & Injustice are part of the DC Animated Movie line, not the DC Universe Movie line like the releases with the spine image, thus them not having the image at all. Constantine House of Mystery similarly is part of the DC Showcase Animated Shorts line, so again no image.

If you buy the DC Universe Movies all on 4K you get one image, while on BD, starting with Long Halloween Part 1, you get a divergent image. Technically the first 3 releases could be either format, but starting with that 4th release the image differs due to Long Halloween not releasing on 4K, thus the 4th part of the image waiting for this release to continue the 4K spine picture, but getting 2 ahead on the BD side. That all makes perfect sense to me, but where I do find it a bit odd is that the upcoming Deluxe Edition Long Halloween looks to not have part of the spine image either.
