Definitely one to pick up! Held off on the previous editions. Great sci-fi space flick.

Can't wait to rewatch it in 4K, I first watched this when I was around 15, it left a real impression on my young mind...

Great news indeed....this movie just gets better with the passage of time.
Just watched the series 'Nightflyers" Reminded me a lot of good old Event Horizon.

Whoever is running the home video department at Paramount, please, send them a gift basket from Zeus himself.

I've never seen a studio do such a visible 180 on home video/media... ever.

It certainly breeds continual hope that at least one major studio will keep their past alive, and in my physical hands.

Yup, I've been frustrated with this for a while now. I'm almost at the point where I won't buy any more "mastered in 4k" blu-rays unless there's some guarantee that it can't possibly be released on UHD anytime in the next few years anywhere by anyone. I've been burned several times like this now. I'm happy this is getting a UHD for sure, but frustrated I spent almost $30 just a few months ago on an inferior release.

I guess the “lost footage” is still totally “lost”. I do like this film, but I think a few of the Cooper moments are dumb like the bit where he is
[Show spoiler]blasted out into space and then manages to fly back with no guidance.
Still an enjoyable film though.

Right? From farming it out to various other studios a while back to this full-on embrace is just astonishing. It really does go to show that if you build it, they will come i.e. disc is rapidly receding in the public consciousness - as is the very notion of buying to own vs a la carte streaming - but there are enough of us collector types out there to make home video worthwhile for these studios and labels. Catalogue stuff still isn't worth it for some studios like Disnee, chiefly their live action back catalogue, but as long they're still doing new movies on UHD with the occasional random Old Movie then I'll take that.

If this happens, it will make me happy that I dragged my feet on the Shout Disc!

Yeah I'm surprised Paramount is taking so long getting The Dead Zone, Silver Bullet, the remaining Star Trek films, Clear and Present Danger (individual release), and Sleepy Hollow out in 4K.

Bah, should have known this was coming, but will probably keep my Shout copy for the extras.

Glad I held off on picking up Shout's edition of The Dead Zone at least, as that has to be in the pipeline as well.

This is so exciting. Is there any chance that it will have the unreleased footage?
