Very nice steelbook that I'll definitely get, but just like the one for Crimes of Grindelwald, it has little to do with the film itself. With Grindelwald, it was having the Deathly Hallows symbol there for no reason. With Dumbledore, it's having Fawkes the phoenix even though the McGuffin creature in this installment is the qilin.

It's meant to be a 5-movie franchise but it's uncertain if that's going to hold true after the performance and reviews of this film

You know the series is dying when the only thing they can put on the cover that's memorable from the movie is a phoenix feather. lmao.

I'll get it since I have the other 2 steels, but yeah, the Phoenix is a weird choice considering it's not important to the plot at all, unlike the Qillin which would be a better choice.

Of course, the whole thing and the comically small "Fantastic Beasts" next to the main title is just an attempt to sell the movie to HP fans who don't care about FB at all.

Even the main title is a lie, since I don't remember finding out anything about Dumbledore in this movie we didn't already know.

Overall, the movie was actually okay and more entertaining then the 2nd one. But in the end it didn't seem like it accomplished much of anything.

Although I've reduced my purchases of Steelbooks, I might have to buy this one since I have the other two. I won't order by mail and will ONLY get it if it's in store.

and if it's not then I'm SOL like I was with No Way Home another one I was getting just to complete the trilogy.

I enjoyed the movie so it won't hurt to buy it but as a friend told me it was the weakest of the three and I have to agree.

I also own the two Target Exclusives so I might buy that one too.

I don't believe the title was meant to refer to only Albus and made some of things not in the previous movies or books actually part of it.
[Show spoiler]
  1. Albus & Grindelwald were in love.
  2. Credence is the son of Aberforth and a real Dumbledore.
  3. The blood pact would kill them if they even considered moving against each other.
  4. But mostly, the plot required that no one know the plan. Dumbledore had to keep it secret from everyone; and some parts, even from himself so that Grindelwald couldn't foresee it.

Might want to spoiler since this is steelbook thread, but anyway...
1 and 3 were already known from the HP books, and indirectly mentioned previously in the movies.

2 was a confirmation from the end of the last movie.

That pretty much leaves 4.

I added the spoiler warning. I agree that 1 and 3 were in some way indirectly mentioned, but the movie made it clear. 2 was only confirmed by the villain which left it open to whether it was a lie or not and it didn't include the how.

The books always made it more clear as to what the title meant, but
[Show spoiler]Dumbledore did ask them to trust him, even when all instinct told them otherwise and leaned heavily into Dumbledore's secretive nature throughout the film.
It could also be less specific than HP fans would like; and are used to. The Crimes of Grindelwald didn't really focus on his crimes, but rather his rise in power.

I haven't seen any FB, but this one caught my attention as a Dumbledore lover, so you're right about that.

Yeah, like I said in the normal 4K thread last month, my boss is a huge HP fan (been to Universal, plenty of merch, etc...) and had never even bothered to watch any of the FB movies. She asked me what "this new Dumbledore movie" was about and I had to explain the whole thing to her. So you're certainly not alone.

Regarding buying this, of which the following also applies to the Home media both physical and digital, we need to worry about more is people refusing to go and see #FantasticBeastsTheSecretsOfDumbledore all because of her comments; I’d highly encourage and recommend everyone [please Encourage as many other people as you can as well please :-) See it as many times as they can in theaters, and even If possible, buy a ticket for it In place of going to see another movie so that way it still gets money without you actually having to see it multiple times. Buying as many merchandise directly related to it as possible will also truly help.

Also remember that if you’re refusing to see it because of #JohnnyDeppIsMyGrindelwald Then please remember that this movie needs to do well so as to give Johnny the chance to actually come back in the Later movies, For the actor who played MacNair The executioner was re-casted for prisoner of Azkaban and then came back for order of the Phoenix. The bottom line is that if #FantasticBeastsTheSecretsOfDumbledore Doesn’t do well, And they don’t make the remaining two movies, then Johnny definitely will never be back as Grindelwald!Plus you also have to remember that it’s about to be a new company with new people over seeing it, So as such you were technically not paying that company and are actually giving more of a chance than not having him actually return. Especially depending on what may happen with the results of his trial that’s going to be happening shortly after the movie comes out, the new people taking over Warner Bros. right before it comes out……

Also remember in regards to her that she doesn’t necessarily get a whole lot of money from this, as well the fact remains that as many people have pointed out that she already has so much money that not supporting the series will not really change any kind of “power“ that you may have against her, and after all the series should not suffer at all because of her for Regardless of what you may think, nothing I repeat nothing will ever ever truly take away what a series overall truly means to you let alone other people, And again it’s not The series that’s the problem at all in any kind of way :-)

Also keep in mind that even though it’s not the best example they have at least one transgender person or someone who identifies themselves as “They” in the cast so much for her transphobia……
