Hi, my previous post got deleted for some reason I’ve now tested all of my Icon Blu-Ray titles. The following titles won’t player on any blu-ray player I own.
The Box The Killer Inside Me The Passion of the Christ (bonus dvd plays fine) Y tu mamá también There were no serious scratches or anything on the discs, another member PMed me saying that had the same issue with The Killer Inside Me. |

Hi - I checked my copy of The Killer Inside Me yesterday after reading your first post, then spent ages trying to find it to reply to
Unfortunately mine won’t play on my Samsung Blu-Ray player either - it only recognises the audio and image sub folders on the disc? Mint condition disc so possibly an authoring problem. Is Apocalypto also an Icon release? If so I’ll dig that out later to test. Got a sealed copy of The Nice Guys too which hopefully as a much more recent release won’t be affected... |

Ok, that’s three posters confirmed The Killer Inside Me is absolutely knackered. Not great, I’ve got DVDs I bought back in 98 that still play perfectly fine.

I did notice on the Killer Inside Me disc that the readable side has slightly bronzed, same as all those US Lionsgate Blu Ray's that went tits up!

I recently bought used copies of We Were Soldiers & Dan in Real Life from Icon and they both play fine. Will have to check my other Icon discs.
I've had early US Lionsgate and Criterion go the way of the dodo (Bangkok Dangerous, The Lady Vanishes etc). Also early UK Optimum titles like The Losers & Whiteout. Seems to a theme with pre 2010 discs... |

My copy of The Road on blu ray will not play, it just opens the sub-folders as someone mentioned above.

After I Pm'd you yesterday, tried Killer Inside Me (after unwrapping the cellophane, lol) to find neither of my 2 blu players or 4k would play it. Pretty much bollix'd all round.

Think I have a sealed copy in storage (from Poundland, so no big loss). Shame to hear it's probably unwatchable!

My Icon blu-Ray of Apocalypto still plays fine which is good news and that IS a freaking great movie.
The only other Icon disc I still need to dig out and check is 30 Days of Night, the old release which came in a thin US style case for some bizarre reason. |

Looks like all 4 of those were released in 2010. I'll start around there and test some discs. Looks like I have 18 Icon releases (including a couple of AUS imports): [Show spoiler] I'll post again later, listing any that show issues. Were the discs refusing to load at all, or where they able to get to the menu? I had a Lionsgate disc of 'The Eye', which would load to the menu but no text, so you couldn't actually start the film. __________ EDIT: All discs fine (loaded & I skipped through chapters), apart from one - 'Pandorum'. ![]() As others have said, it stayed on player (Samsung) menu and acted like a CD/DVD data disc. Although on entering 'Stream' folder and selecting a file it wouldn't run. I also tested it on my PC's BD-ROM drive, basically acted like their was no disc in the drive. To rule out a drive issue, I grabbed a random nearby disc ('Captain America') and it was recognised by the drive instantly. EDIT2: It's pretty cheap, so I ordered another copy. If it works great, if not I'll maybe get an import later or something. My faulty disc definitely worked previously, I think I watched it a couple of times but definitely once during a Halloween movie marathon. Last edited by DaveSimonH; 05-16-2022 at 06:04 PM. |
