This is far and away one of the year's best movies, a genuine delight!

One small caveat for those who might mind: there is some implied animal cruelty that is not shown graphically but still very eloquently presented.... Of course there are multiple disclaimers in the end credits reminding of that no animals were hurt in the making of the movie.

Oh, and also according to the credits, there were no less than 6 donkeys portraying the title character.

Since when did humans give a damn about animal cruelty? Don't we kill then for food, clothing, etc?

So, all this time I thought this was documentary. But this is a narrative film? Looks interesting.

Top-notch filmmaking all around. One of the year's best when it comes to originality, lensing, editing, and scoring. I was afraid it'd be a mere retread of Bresson's masterpiece, but it's its own thing. Highly recommended.

Had the same fear. Totally wrong. Felt a new and refreshing take. Second favourite movie of the year.
