Default Sacd

Does anyone here play SACD? I'm looking at getting some hardware to play SACD and looking for recommendations.

I use a Sony DVD/SACD player. I got mine at a Goodwill store for less than $5. If you pay more than that, you are getting ripped off.

And vinyl records are for hipsters.

Was it a bluray player or simply a DVD player?

If you don't like vinyl I say that's great. All the more for me but, I will have to correct you because I'm most definitely NOT a hipster. I'm a music fan that recognizes how different vinyl is from everything else available.

Agreed. I don’t even know what the hell a hipster is?

If wanting the best-sounding recording of a release with the highest dynamic range possible is “hip”, than count me in.

On topic: Love SACDs. Play them often on my OPPO 203, along with some DVD-Audios and Blu-ray Audios. On rare occasions, they approach the sound quality of vinyl.

There’s also already an SACD thread that’s been going on for a while:

There's a real definition that traces back to the beats, maybe before. But there's the more common definition, that it sounds like this person is using, "Way to describe people doing things I don't like ro agree with".

Here is one that is way to old and probably the furthest from a hipster you could be. I love SACDs and love vinyl. And my turntable has no stupid USB port or anything like that. Unfortunately my SACD player is about to die and will have to be replaced.

I still have my Oppo BDP-93 for SACD, but I rarely use it anymore and stick with hi-rez 96/24 FLAC, mostly for convenience but they still sound good to me.

Growing up I must'a been the first hipster among my friends who were all listening to CDs and argued that they sounded better.

Its been a long history with audio ever since, to the point that I was listening to the equipment more than the music.

How do you expect to be taken seriously when you can't spell "truth."
