Buy Matrix Trilogy box set, get free Toshiba HD DVD player
Well, sort of... by Amy-Mae Elliott 4 September 2007 17:35 GMT - To mark the HD DVD launch of The Complete Matrix Trilogy, Warner Home Video and Toshiba have teamed up with HMV to host a special event at its flagship store on Oxford Street from 8am on Monday 10th September 2007. The first 150 fans who buy The Complete Matrix Trilogy HD box-set will each receive a Toshiba HD-E1 HD DVD player completely free of charge. Inside the store fans can see exclusive demonstrations, have a sneak peak at the jaw-dropping film in HD format, see themselves immortalised in a picture with the cast via a green screen and meet some "very special" guests. In addition, expect to see dazzling visual displays, fans kitted out in The Matrix attire and Agent Smith style security to mark the HD DVD release. As well as the HD DVD player giveaway - the first 400 people who buy the box-set will also walk away with a memorabilia goodie bag. As fans will know, the Complete Matrix Trilogy HD DVD three disc box-set includes The Matrix, along with its visually amazing second and third instalments, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/ne...aunching.phtml buy a movie get a free player.... ![]() ![]() |

Not a bad deal if you can get it kinda reminds me of the free HDTV that Sony gave away at some locations in the UK when you bought a PS3. That would have gotten me to drop some serious money on a PS3.

Do these players suck so bad that they have to give them away for free?

I agree it is like people want to comment on all teh little things one format is doing but turn a blind eye to what the other has done as with the link and quote to the free 2500 british pound Sony HDTV which is a far cry from a 400 dollar HD DVD player as far as I am concerned. It seems what is good marketing for one side is downright idiotic for the other or that is how people seem to want to portray it anyhow.

![]() Do not get me wrong they have to try something but the CE hardware production companies of HARDWARE has already made their choice and that is BLU-RAY. Once the price drops to the level of HD DVD which will be sooner than the HD DVD backers think it will be too late which. already it is. because look at the New blu-ray players being released Daewoo ..Daewoo, and Funai..for a format that has been touted by the HD DVD zealots as to being so much more expensive TO produce there seems to be LOW cost OPTICAL DISC drive and PLAYER's that are lower priced. ![]() |

most likly any HD-DVDer would of already imported the matrix, so being region free once again bites HD-DVD in the ass. Hence they have to give a free player for new customers.
I dont think it will sell that well, givin how cheap you can import the discs now |

A great example of this is DVD+/- Both are Absorbed into A single format now the same will happen with HD DVD and Blu-ray. the big indication is both are blue laser OPTICAL DRIVES..there is just a few thing's that make each format unique but the problem is not enough for the formats to branch off without one not Absorbing the other. HD DVD will be Absorbed into the better OPTICAL format all blu-ray has to do is let the DIGESTIVE JUICES TAKE OVER AFTER ITS ABSORBED THE HD DVD format. take some TUMS for the HEART BURN and maybe some pepto incase of a little tummy ache..and get on with itself AS A FORMAT. ![]() |

Tosh: Hey Warnie, I'd give out 150 free players if people pay to buy your movies, what do you say to that? WB: Hell yeah!!! They are giving out free players, not movies. Warner will be crazy to turn it down. ![]() enjoy gandalf ![]() |

![]() A) to fail which is very unlikely due to it also being a DVD format also b) get more support which the Way HD DVD has been price the CE companies cannot compete at that PRICE. at least for the time being. c) your format gets to be Absorbed into the winning format. the fact that BLU-RAY just gained (2 more companies) that make optical drive's and player HARDWARE. is QUITE telling also. what was the recent HARDWARE COMPANY BESIDES Toshiba THAT IS MAKEING HD DVD hardware. what happens when all the CE companies make BLU-RAY DRIVES WITH Blu-Ray interactive features but only HD DVD playback. If the players with only HD DVD play back out number IHD interactivity PLAYBACK support . instead opting for BD-J but only HD DVD playback THAT WOULD TELL THE CONSUMER YES YOU CAN BUY HD DVD but the picture will be great looking on this Blu-Ray player. no need for HD DVD when a blu-ray player can play your HD DVD disc's. forced Absorbtion. with or without HD DVD promotional groups help. COMBO player's help Blu-Ray not the other way around If the INTERACTIVE FEATURES ARE JAVA instead of IHD. which LG has already done this BenQ has already. Acer is soon to follow.THE TREND OF THE CE hardware companies will be forced Absorbtion. ![]() Last edited by joeorc; 09-04-2007 at 08:45 PM. |
